Sonata GS 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 127,941 miles

Whenever I change signals or hit a bump in the road my lights front headlights and back brake lights go off. I have to tap the blinker to get them to come back on. I drive a lot at night and this is not good. When I tweeted my issue to @Hyundai they advised me to talk to my CSR rep and when I spoke to Brad he said "why did they tell you to tell me that, you have to take it to the dealer." Suffice it to say, I am beyond pissed, but then this particular model is a pure 100% lemon and Hyundai knows.

Sonata GLS

  • Automatic transmission
  • 148,000 miles

I have a 2011 Sonata GLS, that has been my go to car for the last year, which is obvious by the 148,000 miles I have on it. About 2 years ago I would intermittently have my head lights shut off, go to brights and then come back on when using my turn signal. I've had a dealer look at it and they were not sure, and said I could replace the whole turn signal column, but it might now fix (of course not spending that much for a chance to fix it). This morning though it did it every time I used the right turn signal only. It's really bad when your behind cars and you turn the signal on and your lights go off, then on to brights and then back to normal, and then does it again when the turn signal goes off. It's really obvious when I come to work and it's still pitch black out, I'm sure cars in front of me want to know why I'm flashing them. Has anyone had this issue.

Sonata GLS

  • Automatic transmission
  • 33,000 miles

Took car to the dealer and told them the problem, they said that I must have been hitting the turn signal switch at an angle and the high beams were flashing on then off. I explained again that the head light flick off and then back on sometimes when using the turn signals, so sales person said if it happens again to bring it back, well it happened again and still no solution.

Sonata 4S 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 112,000 miles

I have cleaned the light sensor in the dash board. I have looked into this website and have found other owners that have the same issue. It looks like it is a short in the stem that controls the turn signals and the headlights. Have tried to check the fuses, but have yet to find any blown. Its quite frustrating and dangerous that this can occur. It would seem that this would be a manufactures defect.
