I got the car in 2013. I have taken great care on the car from day 1. It was garage kept 2/3rd of its life, waxed religiously. It was only in the snow 2 times ever. There was no reason for the paint to be coming off. Upon doing research I found out that Hyundai use a self healing paint, and that other manufacturers stopped using because of all the problem that it give them... there were lawsuits against Hyundai for the paint peeling but unfortunately they were all lost. Hopefully Hyundai will cave in and solve this problem otherwise I'm going to have get the car sanded down and repainted $$$. :(

CURRENTLY, OWN A 2012 SONATA WITH 116,600 MILES. MY CAR HAS BEEN THROUGH EVERY RECALL PROCESS ALONG WITH A NEW MOTOR COVERED BY A RECALL AT 100,000 MILES. NOW I HAVE CHUNKS OF PAINT THAT ARE MISSING OFF HALF THE TRUNK ALONG WITH ACROSS THE TOP PART OF THE FRONT WINDOW AND STARTING ON THE HOOD OF CAR AS WELL. WE SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HYUNDAI'S SCREW UP WHEN PAINTING THE VEHICLE.

My 2012 Hyundai Sonata has started to show signs of paint peeling off in big chunks. I asked the dealer where I bought the car to correct the problem but they refused. I asked the Hyundai dealer to correct the problem and they sent pictures to Hyundai corporate and they refused to do anything. The cost to repaint my car would be in excess of $2000 and the value of my car is continuing to drop.

I had been driving a 2001 SAAB Convertible for MANY years, had no car payment and was happy with it... Although it was dated... I NEVER had any problems with it! But, I wanted a newer car... so I went to the dealership and bought a used, 2012 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T. I was so happy that I had a new car... For about TWO WEEKS. That is when I noticed that the paint began to peel. I am so incredibly upset about this because I owe close to $15,000 on a car that is now chipping and RUSTING!!! I would love it if Hyundai would STEP UP and re-paint these cars for us!!! This is ridiculous!!! I will NEVER buy Hyundai again if something is not done!!!

i have a 2012 Hyundai Sonata the paint starting to peel this July. It's peeling on the front lip of the roof where it meets the windshield. A few weeks later noticed that it started to peel on the front of the hood, and also its peeled on the driver side bottom panel and the spot shattered its all cracked and looks like a spider web the spot is about 4 inches wide. It peeled straight down to the metal of the car.

Went to the dealer with this problem and they told me I am out of warranty with this, so I called Hyundai with problem. They took my name and number and told me they would have someone call that was over a week ago. Took my car to 2 different auto body shops and they both said the same thing that this happen in the factory and there is a name for it "paint delamanation " and they both said that is going to keep going. Geez how much further is it going to go???

I have saved and scrimped to put a down payment on a new car. I am 43, never had a "new" car and was excited. Thought I found a deal and would not have buyers remorse. All was great until I was washing the car and noticed I had a few chips around the wheel well, (even though I paid $125 for Hyundai protective flaps). I thought "Shoot I must have hit something.". Then the chips AND rust were around the inside doors, the trunk, and windshield. I wasn't mad, I was sure the Dean Patterson dealership (where I just bought the car 2 yrs ago) would take care of it. WRONG!

Here's where I go crazy! I have worked in customer service for over 20 yrs. I have always gone above and beyond to help a customer. Not them. And I quote "Yah, sorry, we don't cover rock chips." WHAT! Rock chips? Around the inside of the doors, the trunk, and on top of the windshield. My 2012 Hyundai paint is chipping off and rusting everywhere! I had a 2001 Honda Odyssey, no chips or rust. My husband has a 2000 Subaru Forester, not rust and he is a mailman and the car takes a beating. I am so disgusted. I'm not going down yet and using car complaint is my first step to holding someone accountable! Please let me know if anyone else is having this problem with the paint.
