Sonata

  • 104,000 miles
While driving on the highway, I've had several instances where I push the gas pedal down and the car does not accelerate. This is a known issue in other Hyundai vehicles with the brake pedal stopper and I'm wondering if my 2013 Hyundai Sonata is having this same problem that was recalled on many other vehicles.

Brake lights remain on, even after vehicle is parked and key is removed, draining the battery. Brake lights remain on throughout normal operation of vehicle and only extinguish when the negative battery terminal is removed from battery. When power is re-applied, the brake lights are lit- even with no key on the ignition. Hyundai believes the brake pedal stopper pad material can deteriorate, which allows the stop light switch plunger to remain extended when the brake pedal is released by the driver. They recalled model years 2011-2012, but the defect persists in model years far beyond this- past the 2014 model Sonata that I have discovered.

Urgent. 1) defective engine per Hyundai's admission. I will not accept a software 'bandaid' approach to patch to my main ECM to resolve this problem. I did go in to sheppard motors to get this bandaid applied to my car. This is a bandaid, and shame on Hyundai. My engine is warrantied through July 2023. I've been around. 2) my car is brand new, with only 27,400 miles on her 3) the latest recall on both the low and high pressure fuel line/ hoses etc. Should I wait for a fire here? dear NHTSA: Please look up all of the recalls and extended warranties on my vehicle. Unacceptable to me. I believe that no quality control whatsoever was practiced and applied on the factory production lines. Hyundai Focus -- big money. Pressuring factory workers to put in any part they can find. I have some stories here about the audio system on my car that will absolutely blow your collective minds. I've been around. 4) Hyundai long since sent me extended warranties on a) the entire engine B) brake pedal stopper C) front coil springs D) seat belt tensioners (drivers tensioner was already replaced, and yet, it still does not retract completely when exiting the vehicle pray tell, what gives Hyundai" new car here. My greatest concerns about this new car that I paid for in cash -- and was defrauded in that process as well -- I could have bought a Honda for much less, and never have any problems. I am rather frustrated here and pray for government advocacy and intervention. Thank you so very much. #1 I need a brand new motor, the whole motor, which has been thoroughly quality control tested and proven, and which has been completely tested. My motor is very, very noisy. So, do I wait for the rod bearings to fail completely and stall out my car, causing a fatal crash" #2 I need both my low and high pressure fuel lines and hoses, etc. Replaced

While driving the car, sometimes it does not respond to the pushing of the accelerator thereby either slowing down or hesitating creating scary and hazardous conditions on the road. This happens while driving on the interstate at high speeds or on the city roads in slow traffic. The behavior is unpredictable and uncontrollable. Also, the brake light stays on even when the brake pedal is not touched which is dangerous while driving. Upon research on line, this is not an isolated case but has happened to a number of Hyundai vehicles. It seems this has to do with either the rubber stopper of the brake switch or the failure of the brake switch or both. I called Hyundai and was informed that no recalls have been issued to fix this problem but the warranty on the stopper has been extended to 15 years and unlimited miles. They should extend this warranty not just to the stopper but to the whole switch assembly. It is obvious that Hyundai has acknowledged the problem with the brake switch assembly but is not informing the owners of the potential safety hazard caused by the failure of this assembly. In reality they should issue a recall to replace this assembly.

Sonata

While driving down the interstate at 70 mph in the fast lane I received loud alarm "hybrid system warning! safely stop and do not drive. Also on the dash board was a yellow triangle with an asterisk. In addition the red brake warning light was illuminated. The car accelerator no longer responded but lucky I was able to get the car to the side of the highway. If traffic were heavier (which it normally is in my area) I could have been involved in a high-speed collision. Once I got to the side of the road and pressed the brakes, there was a very loud noise and vibration felt in the seats and brake pedal. The vehicle finally stopped, I turned it off, checked the brakes for leaks. I also checked the brake fluid level. Everything looked normal when I restarted the car, not alarm. Everything cleared up. This is dangerous. I have searched the web and found that many others are having this same problem. For now the car is sitting in my drive-way. We don't feel safe driving it and from what I read the fix is expensive. I have a video of the dashboard during the malfunction if needed. Thank you.

Recommended services by keyes motors in van nuys is to replace the right and left taillight lens assemblies because. On inspection, they were found to be broken at the cost of $1183.03. There has never been any impact to these lights. Hyundai refuses to address this even after my complaint. On investigating this problem, numerous complaints online have been found with owners having this same problem on Hyundai Sonatas in the past dating back before 2013 and some 2014. Some having the problem repeated after having it repaired.

While driving, the car started braking, lost power steering, stopped and warning on dash said hydraulic brake system, do not drive. I was able to pull onto turning lane. Turned car off, then on again. Warning gone on dash, put into gear and was able to drive no problem. Made service apt. Drove 60 miles before happening again. This time would not restart.towed to dealership.was told hydraulic brake system failure. I have 20,000 miles on car but 1 yr out of warranty. $2,700 and 3 days later they say this part has 1yr warranty. If this had happened on freeway it could have become deadly for me. I no longer feel safe in this car.
