Sonata

  • 113,000 miles
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. While driving at night and depressing the brake pedal, the rear brake lights failed to illuminate. The contact also noticed a burning odor inside the vehicle. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and noticed that the rear driver's side brake bolt fell out off the socket and the wire of the socket was on fire. The contact put out the fire and removed the light bulb to prevent it from bursting into flames. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. After leaving 2013 Sonata parked for 3 hours car would not go over 5 miles an hour. After investigation by Hyundai mechanics they found that a portion of engine wiring harness had been chewed through by some kind of critter. Come to find out the material used as wiring insulation is soy based that attracts critters. This could be a sever safety issue that could lead to accidents, fires, or what ever.
