  • 80,000 miles
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. After starting the vehicle, it stalled and the check engine indicator illuminated. While driving various speeds, the contact also heard a knocking noise coming from the engine that became louder as the vehicle accelerated. The vehicle was taken to tameron Hyundai (1595 montgomery hwy, birmingham, al 35216) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a new battery. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed either "low pressure" or "low power" in the engine. The contact was unsure. The vehicle was taken back to tameron Hyundai where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17V226000 (engine). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
