The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the chest strap failed to tighten after locking the seat belt into place. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing the seat belt retractor to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and provided the contact a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 179,000.
