Sonata Limited 2.4L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 47,000 miles

2013 Hyundai Sonata Limited I've only had this car for 6months and the axles were bad and replaced by Hyundai dealer then I bought this certified pre-owned Hyundai Sonata. Now not even 5 months later I have the same issue but the dealer said the warranty on axles is 12,000 miles or 1 year and i did 13,000 so they wouldn't replace them again. I've had original axles on my other Toyota car for 10 years and never had an issue so how do Hyundai sonata original axles only last 5 months?

I did some research and this is a common issue with Hyundai Sonata, they had a TSB on the 2011 models for the same issue, TSB #14-DS-001-1 for this known issue. why is the dealer trying to charge me over $1000 when i paid over $15,000 for the car and for an extended warranty? this isn't right after only 5 months and 13,000 miles so now I'm reporting it so this doesn't happen to others

Sonata LE 4-cylinder

  • Automatic transmission
  • 99,000 miles

I just purchased our 2013 Hyundai Sonata in May 2016 and found we have a clunking noise when steering left or right. This seems to be a common problem with Sonatas but Hyundai has no recall. I suppose it is because it is not causing danger but is annoying and makes it unpleasant to drive. I watched three videos and decided I did not want to tackle replacement of a small round wheel like rubber grommet in the steering column where there is a transition from mechanical to servo motor on the power steering. I wish Hyundai would establish a recall on this. When speaking to local dealer service manager, he said the grommet would cost about a dollar but took half day to drop steering column to repair. If you look it up on a 29 minute YouTube video, you will see how involved it is. I am not sure whether we will tolerate it or pay $400-$500 labor to repair.

This noise has become very disturbing. I only hear it when I turn my wheel. It's worse when I turn it to the right. When I go over bumps in the road, there is a rattling noise that seems to be coming from the steering column.
