This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Hyundai dealer.
I've had this issue since I purchased the car. I brought it in to the dealership as of 800km (500miles) and they were not able to diagnose the problem.
I brought it back again at 6800km and had to pay for a courtesy vehicle for the day, because I had to leave it there.
About once per gas refill, at whatever gas quantity is in the tank, the dashboard cluster just turns off and restarts itself, as if I just entered the car and pressed the "start" button. This happens while im driving on the highway, on the road, in my driveway, pretty much whenever ! BUT : Only once per gas tank. So 13 times now since I purchased the car.
This reset causes the gas consumption gauge to go back to 0 (erases whatever I was previously at). Trip A and Trip B mileage gets erased. Only thing that stays is the mileage on the odometer.
Third time I've gone to the dealer to get this fixed. It has yet to be fixed. We will see by tonight what the verdict is. If they have to, they are going to change the whole damned thing !

I have the same problem as the guy above but when mine dose it it also shuts down the lights for 4 to 8 seconds. and at night on a dark road its real fun. so far they have had my car for a week the first time and replaced the cluster but since the problem and the unit is so new they didn't know how to reset the odometer. drove the car for 4 days on the way home from work it did it again at 4 am scared the sh*t out of me. took the car back after i cleaned every thing out of it told them it was theres i don't want it back it unsafe. also told them since the odometer read zero they gave me back an untested car witch is a no no so now they replaced the head unit witch i guess is the brain of the car but its been almost two weeks and I'm still driving a loaner. o and the milage didn't add up, i filled the car up when i got it back distance read 890 km drove it for the four days odometer read 940 km still had half a tank of gas left and my distance left read 490 ? .
Now i have felt with hyuinda for almost 24 years and have never had a problem. hell they replaced my wife 2013 sonata because of an untraceable odor in the car that would not go away but this time i don't know if its the dealership screwing me around or if they just can't fix it so we will see if i ever get my car back if it is fixed ? but i will say this if it dose happen again the i will take the car to the dmv and see what they have to say .
i will keep you posted
