I have been keeping up with regular repairs and oil changes on my vehicle; so I was surprised when the oil light flashed once or twice in the past week, specifically when I took a turn tightly. The oil was low when I checked it so I added a quart and didn't think much of it except "I should get into a shop soon and have that checked out." Two days later, my RPMs red-lined past 6-7k and the car was revving up but was not accelerating at all. I pulled over and checked the engine again and without showing any kind of leaks (no spots in my driveway/parkingspot) the engine had consumed the oil I added and then some. Moreover, the problem with the engine revving up but not accelerating was not fixed when I added the oil. It could have been very dangerous if I were on the highway and was not able to accelerate for any reason that could put myself or my family at risk. Now, the car CAN reach speeds of 75+ miles per hour on the highway, but only after a LONG period of acceleration and seems to be burning oil VERY regularly. I've grown very concerned about catastrophic engine failure on the highway.

My car goes through 5 qts of oil every 1500 miles. I have been in contact with numerous dealerships in the area, and nobody will look at it until the engine fails. Was told thats the only engine recall they will honor. So I am basically being forced to drive an unsafe car. I have a case with Hyundai, and all they have told me is to continue working with service managers at dealerships, even though this is impossible. My car only has 97k on it, I have kept up on its oil changes (not that it matters) and now am forced to spend extra money just to keep it hopefully running. My case# with Hyundai is 20870570. I owe around $15k on this damn car, and the trade in value has come WAY down to around $6000. In no way can I afford to take on $9k of negative equity. How can the EPA force VW to buy back cars, when all they did was produce "bad" emissions, but Hyundai cant be forced to buy back vehicles that catch fire, get stolen on the regular, and break down in the middle of traffic endangering the lives of its occupants and others. This makes absolutely 0 sense.

Oil is leaking from the turbo oil feed hose onto the hot engine, hot exhaust and engine undercover that has a potential for a fire hazard in addition to toxic fumes from oil burning seeping into the car. There was a tsb for a similar incident campaign number 16-01-071 that affected 2011-2014 Sonata 2.0T and 2013-16 Santa Fe sport 2.0T this model the 2015 Sonata 2.0T should also be included in this campaign as is it exhibiting the same issue.

My 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport 2.4L is burning through oil like crazy and has been for a while now and I had no Idea. I get oil changes like I am suppose to do per the sticker and miles. Recently I drove about 4 hours away from home and I smelled burning but I had just got my breaks done and a oil change so I assumed it was the breaks. I got back home and still smelled the smell took it to the shop and they told me it was bone dry with NO oil at all. I was not at my mileage from the sticker so it wasn't time for me to get another oil change. They then told me these cars burns oil like crazy but that was the fist time anyone told me this and I have never had this issue ( I've had the car since Jan 2020 with no issues) They put more oil in it and told me to come back when it reaches the mileage. I went back to get my oil change and once again it was BARE!!!!!! They did the oil change and 2 weeks later I started my car and white smoke came from the engine part under the hood through my exhaust pipe AND my VENTS!! It was so much smoke I was afraid a fire was going to start!!! I lost a day at work and my daughter missed a day at school. Turns out I have a oil leak and I need my Valve seal cover gasket replaced. Not once did my oil light come on and TWICE my car had been completely out of oil! I am going to get my engine checked because who knows if it has done any damage (hopefully none). My car has never overheated or my check engine light has never came on. I see there a recall for this exact situation but the years covered was from 2008 or something until 2014 and I have a 2015! This is clearly a ongoing problem with Hyundai and something needs to be done. This is not a sweep under the rug issue. Its literally ruining peoples cars and we are left to fend for ourselves. Something or someone needs to advocate for the customer because the company clearly is not listening to complaints.

After taking my car in multiple times to be serviced for a "Hybrid System Warning" mid last year, they were unable to read any error codes or diagnose any issue. I took it to two separate dealerships with no luck fixing the issue. I then completely broke down due to the same "Hybrid System Warning" on the highway on 7/26/22 heading to Pigeon Forge, TN with two children in the car. I had to have my car towed to the closest Hyundai dealership in Knoxville. They were unable to diagnose and fix my car within the timeframe I was in town. Since Hyundai would not provide me with a loaner, I had to get a rental car to get home that I was not reimbursed for. We ended up paying out of pocket to replace the safety plug/fuse and the power relay assembly on 8/9/22. After having the car back for three months, the warning popped up again on 10/18/22 just as it did earlier that same year. I immediately called to schedule a service appointment with Hyundai and had to wait almost four months to get a service appointment here in Cincinnati. The appointment was on 1/26/23 and they have yet to "replicate the issue" so they are unable to diagnose the car. I am supposed to pick up the car this week even though it's a safety hazard. I have had two cases open with Hyundai Customer Affairs but since they cannot diagnose the car, there is nothing they can do. They have been absolutely no help at all.

Engine seized with no warning. When speaking to a mechanic & the tow truck driver they both pointed out this is a known problem with the car. My teenage daughter was behind the wheel when this happened. There is such a demand for these engines the car has been in the dealership for 6 weeks now & I was informed that it is back ordered from Korea with no date of delivery. I am now stranded with no transportation & engine is under warranty. Car is at Elgin Hyundai, Illinois. If they are unable to get car running for unknown time & know this is a well known problem I feel a recall should be done on this car

I was driving on the freeway and all the sudden the check engine light started flashing. At the same time the engine slowed down and would not accelerate past 60 mph. I took the first freeway exit and drove to the nearest auto parts store. The store clerk hooked up a code reader and it came back with a P1326 code, Power Train System. Is it a real problem or just another bad sensor?

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that after her vehicle received an oil change by an independent mechanic; she was informed that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The mechanic informed her to monitor the oil consumption. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, an abnormal knocking noise was coming from the engine, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer who had previously informed the contact that any damage done to the engine would be covered under a class action lawsuit. The contact submitted two claims to the manufacturer for an engine replacement; however, both claims were denied. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

On January 6, 2023, I was driving on the interstate when suddenly the engine started vibrating, the check engine light came on, and I lost engine power. As I was in the left lane of a multilane interstate, I had to negotiate getting over to the right emergency lane. Because of the loss of power, I felt like this put me in a dangerous situation. Anyway, once I got pulled over, I had the vehicle towed to a Hyundai dealership. After diagnosing the vehicle, they say the vehicle needs a new engine. The vehicle had been consuming excessive oil since I purchased the vehicle in 2018 and has been getting progressively worse. At the time of the engine failure, it was burning about 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. The dealership tried getting HMA to cover the engine replacement cost even though the vehicle was out of warranty but was denied. I've uploaded a picture of the technician's diagnosis and HMA's response to request for engine replacement coverage.

The 2.4 engine of the Sonata 2015,2016 has irregular wear on the connecting rods, it makes a noise when it is turned on even if it has its maintenance up to date. My car has 113,000 miles and the engine went out going down the highway with my young daughter in the car. This could have been a disaster if someone would have been behind us. After researching about my issues I found almost all their motors are going out or catching fire. Someone needs to hold them accountable. My car has been in the shop for weeks now with no approval from Hyundai. My daughter almost died last year in a car wreck. What if someone-??s engine goes out with someone behind them. Someone could lose a life. This is serious.

told the Hyundai dealer 2 years(March 2021) ago that I was concerned about my oil light flashing periodically between scheduled oil changes. No action other than oil changes and one time they added a couple of quarts "no charge" as it again was low. Continued to change oil more often than necessary and the frequency increased. Multiple other car repairs have been happening and the oil now has to be added weekly to maintain proper amounts. Had to change spark plugs 2 times with in 5 months and now another engine light came on today 11/15, and when I check the code at a parts store I was told is was a P03001 and P03002 which was something to do again with the cylinders misfiring. Everyone I have spoke to says this is an engine issue and it is under recall. I did place a claim with Hyundai Care USA after being told by the dealer that it would be better if I did this instead of them. The assistant manager also confirmed that the engine is covered 100%. I did this in September after the second repairs. The Regional Manager finally called me back and indicated he agreed about the problem needing to be resolved and would call me after he spoke to the dealer in a day or two. It has been over a week and no one has called. I keep leaving messages. I now have the same error codes, it is November 15 and the spark plugs were all changed less than 2 months ago for the exact same reason. I have been stranded and at times when I accelerate onto traffic the car will not respond. I do not use the interstate anymore as I cannot predict when the car will slow down and not get enough speed and cause an accident. I only drive to work and back right now. I was given this website by the employee at the parts store along with some information concerning P1326 codes and they are engine related. I will upload the most recent repair receipt.

Intake actuator for camshift seal failed. Internal oil seal plug is leaking. There is a recall for this already but Hyundai is telling me recall is not attached to my VIN so they are refusing to fix it. my make model year is 2015 Hyundai Sonata 2.4l. Engine light is on. It is unsafe to drive as engine revs extremely high, and when I take my foot off break engine lurches forward. This is a safety issue making car unsafe to drive. I have been fighting with Hyundai for 6 weeks now, and they still refuse due to national recall in place, is not attached to my VIN. Please attach recall to my vin as this is exact issue I am having.
