My vehicle is stalling out while driving it I took it to the Hyundai dealership and they said they could not find anything wrong with my car. This has happened three (3) times two of which my 11year old child was a passenger in my car. It happens at random sometimes the car starts shaking then seems to loose power or die down then picks back up or the worst stalls completely! no one can tell me what's wrong or help me the Hyundai dealership tells me that until something happens or the computer reads something they can't help me! I have witnesses who have also experienced it while driving my car aside from the three times I have experienced it myself.

So this is the first time this has ever happen, I recently got gas two days prior to me finding out at the gas station that my gas door won't open. I currently have under a quarter tank of gas and have to pick up my son. My gas door is not opening, I've tried the switch in the inside of my vehicle and I also tried the manual release. The only thing that happens when I try either methods, is hearing the click of it trying to open. I took it to Goodyear the tire place to get someone to look at it, but no one could fix the issue without breaking into it. Then I took a gamble going to pepboys, they was helpful but not successful. They ran into the same solution but did not want to cause damage to my vehicle. Please help, I'm low on gas and I have a family who depends on me to get back and forward.

I took my car to priorty Hyundai because it wouldn't start. They said it was a issue and then priorty Hyundai fixed it and let me drive it. 3 weeks later it did not start. They say they fixed it but now they are telling me to tow it to them so they can check it. They say a recall has been issued. And I have to wait 5 days until the check it. I am missing work. They said it was already fixed. Before it stop working I took a 5 he trip. The car was defected and they let me drive it. It stopped once when I was in the highway coming back luckily traffic went around me until it started and I was able to get home. Now it doesn't start.

On 08/12/2018, I was driving my car on the highway when the electronic display indicated that I was traveling at 65 mph when I was had slowed for traffic. When I pulled off the highway at an exit the display indicated that I was traveling at 65 mph when I was at a full stop. I then noticed that when driving the car the manual tachometer was working and speedometer showed the actual speed of car of 40 mph while the electronic display showed the speed of 65 mph. While driving I noticed I could not scroll through the menus on the electronic display and the only thing showing was 65 mph. I pulled off the road and turned off the car and the display still showed 65 mph even though car was off and doors were open. After starting the car again to determine if working, all functions stopped working. The car showed traveling at 65 mph, even though driving to parking spot, and the tachometer, speedometer, gas left indicator, car mileage, temperature display all stopped working. The radio and navigation continued to work as did signals. I had car towed to dealer as it was not drivable. After car came off tow truck, all functions returned. The dealer told me that there was an active recall on the car, but it was something only the service area could see and the customers were not notified of issue for a recall. On the paperwork they indicate it is 'campaign HE1000 ' refer to line B.' a recall campaign must be sent to customers as this started to happen when I was driving on the highway and could potentially be dangerous to owners. I was able to quickly pull off the highway, but that would not have been the case later in the week. Potential lives are being put at risk.

Our car was serviced by southwest Hyundai dealer in albuquerque on 7/6, and although it was idling rough, they told us our car was safe to continue our vacation to co. The next morning, 30 miles later on I 25 we were traveling the speed limit, and a clanking noise started and smoke poured out from under the hood...we pulled over immediately. Billows of smoke. We called 911 and road assistance. Santa Fe fire dept forced hood open and flooded the engine. Car was towed to sante fe Hyundai fiesta. Our insurance company inspected and said the car was totaled. Hyundai corporate will be inspecting the car to try and determine cause. According to geico adjuster, that may not be possible. Everything melted.

The low beam headlights will not come on even after replacing the bulbs and fuses. The A/C stopped working. Again, the fuses were replaced and all connections are right. There's a vibration coming from the passenger side front wheel. It starts at 70 M.P.H and gets worse as speed increases. Roaring the tires did not help. It sounds like a old worn out truck coming from the drivers side strut housing.

Tire complaint, not about the vehicle itself. I see no where to file a complaint specifically about tires. 2015 Hyundai Sonata sport 2.0T purchased new 3/24/16. Equipped with hankook ventus S1 noble2 tires - 235/45R18 dot # T7N9 1A H 4214. Immediately purchased a tire protection package from discount tire which entitled me to: Free flat repairs, free rotation & balance, and road hazard protection. The tires were maintained by me - a semi-retired mechanic at 35 psi and checked regularly. The vehicle also displays tire pressure information in the drivers' information display. Tires were rotated every 5,000 miles with each oil change. On December 11,2017 at approximately 27,500 miles (tire is rated as a 50,000 miles tire by hankook), I noticed a vibration at highway speeds that was increasingly getting worse as the day progresses. Pictures attached show the driver's side front (left front) tire. Tread separation was occurring around 1/3rd of the tread diameter. It is not alignment wear as the picture of the same wheel turned to the right clearly shows the remainder of the tread in near perfect wear pattern. Tread depth was 6/32nds. In my following numerous online Hyundai pages including: Hyundaiforums.com and Sonata society on facebook, it has come to my and several other Sonata owners whose vehicle came equipped with this model and size tire are experiencing similar tread separation, some with as little as 10,000 miles. Had I been a typical consumer and not someone with 35 years of experience working on cars and knew what to look for, that tire will have exploded and caused serious injury to myself and others. I replaced all 4 but have one in my trunk for verification. A safety hazard and this size needs to be included in the current hankook tire recall. Documentation available if requested.

On 5-6-18 I was on the beltway (freeway) driving with my panoramic sunroof open. All of a sudden a hear this pop and the mesh wind viser on the passenger side is broken then I reach for it and another pop sound with rattling noise then another pop is heard. Before I could do anything I see the entire sunroof glass on that side bouncing. Almost crashing I was able to hit the close button somehow and make it to my mom's house. My stepdad looked at it and it was completely off the track on that one side the drivers side was stuck. The only thing we could do was use a strap to hold it and keep it from falling off. One of the scariest things to happen to me while driving.

Sonata

  • 33,000 miles
1/2 mile after starting my vehicle and driving approx 30 mph, my car shuttered and shook. Pulled over and it seemed to fix itself so I continued 23 miles to work. Was approx 39 degrees according to car dashboard. Leaving work 9 hours later, I drove approx 1.5 miles in stop and go traffic, speed no higher than 25-30 mph, crossed over rr tracks and the car shuttered and then shut off completely rolling to a stop. Threw on my hazards and the screen indicated I should put it in park and restart. The battery light and master indicator light came on. Car restarted and the lights disappeared. Went straight to Hyundai dealer. They attempted a 17 mile road test the next day after the car sat overnight and it did not repeat the issue. Nothing was stored in the computer system from when the lights came on. They have no explanation. Oil was changed and took car back at 5pm the day after the issue took place. Drove 24 miles to work today and it did not repeat yet.

My Sonata has started stalling and shutting down without warning. The first time it happed was Dec 12th. I just finished accelerating from about 35mph to 60mph. There the vehicle made a loud thump and the engine shut down. Seconds later I lost power steering, dash lights, and headlights. The car restarted without issue. The same problem happened on Dec. 16th while traveling at a constant 30mph. I experienced the same symptoms as before, except the vehicle did not shake or create a loud noise before shutting down. Mileage was at 75980. Temperature was in the 20's. I took the car do the dealership and they could not find anything wrong or recreate the problem. The third time this has happened was Dec 29th. I was traveling at 20mph and coasting to a stoplight. It was 19 deg outside and the mileage was around 76800. So far the car has not shut off when the weather is above freezing. Lower temps might be contributing to the problem but not likely to be the primary cause. In all cases the car was at operating temp and was running for more then 30 min. It has not yet shut off while accelerating. Only maintaining speed or coasting. About a two months ago the dealer did a software update on the vehicle due to a claimed recall. The issue started about 2-3 weeks later this is definitely a safety issue since it happens without warning. I did find some other complaints similar to this while searching.

There is a continual fluttering noise from the engine compartment which was not heard when this vehicle was first purchased. When I brought it to the Hyundai dealer to check what the noise is, the service rep, tiffany, heard the noise also when I started my engine & let it run. However, when service was completed, I was told that the serviceperson could not replicate it. This is continual and doesn't stop. I was told the engine was checked and there are no recalls for a noise of this type being issued. As a matter of fact, after they checked this, the noise was even louder and I have to keep the radio on to block it out. This is not normal. This occurs on whatever type of road I'm on and quiets down when I'm at a red light while the vehicle isn't in motion. Turning doesn't stop it. I drive on highways & city streets.

I was beginning to accelerate at a stoplight when it turned green, on a major city street, when the engine stopped without warning. The power remained, the dashboard remained lit, the radio on, climate controls on, phone remained connected to bluetooth, but the engine would not restart for 5 minutes or so. When I finally got it restarted I drove it straight home; the next morning, it restarted just fine, but I was reluctant to drive it and had it towed to the dealer. They have kept it and driven it for 150 miles since then, and nothing has happened. No error codes have shown up on diagnostics.
