check engine light on

11/29 - took sonata to dealer. Told engine had recall and more than likely it would be covered. Called that afternoon told it is not covered and will cost $4700 due to burnt valves. Told to open a case with Hyundai and that they would text me the phone / website.

11/30 No text received - opened case online. Sent text with case number # 40056482

12/4 - no follow up. Texted asking if my texts were coming in. Got a response saying the system had been down and that he would call and check on case. Nothing else.

12/5 - sent text asking for update - no response

12/6- responded said Hyundai said it’s not covered. I also asked for bearing clearance test and told that is not covered. Told me bearing clearance test is a waste of time and we would have to pay even though the engine would be completely apart. Said once valves are fixed start oil consumption test no cost.

In text I asked if anything cheaper can be done Response from service advisor “Let me see what i can do for you in parts and labor i will see if i can discount all of it and get you a better price. I want to personally say i am sorry for not being on top of communication with you. So let me try and make this situation better for you guys.” “You got it give me a bit because i can update the labor pricing but i have to go talk to parts to get adjustments.” “I will let you know by today thats my promise, i empathize for you guys in this situation i will do everything in my power to try and get yall taken care of.”

He didn’t get back to us and was off work on Saturday.

12/18- picked up car. Was 400$ more than quote. Checked oil - overfilled by about a quart - tech said that is normal. Hood wouldn’t open - tech said shocks probably went bad - this is interesting because we changed plugs, coils, oil and it opened just fine. Here’s the fun part. Drove it one mile from dealership and the car dash lit up and would not start. Called dealership and they say they will reimburse tow. Tow truck driver said he also heard them say it and apologized for all our trouble and said he would be a witness if needed. Camden seems to be helpful so hopefully this will get resolved. We asked for the picture and Kaleb the technician that did the job said it wasn’t on the order so he didn’t take any. Another lie from Cameron. We told Camden we do not want to work with Cameron anymore. He gave us his card and said he will be our advisor going forward. I asked the technician if he had done valves before and he said ours was his first on his own. I asked where the piece was from the valve and he said he didn’t find it that it probably disintegrated. Apparently the 2 mile test drive and the hour idle didn’t trigger the car to die.

It's burning a quart of oil every 1000 miles. There's not a leak. I park in a garage with no oil spots.

Bought car from dealership with 29k miles, car was used as demo car so I figured it shouldn't have any problems. now have 33k miles on it and check engine light came on, car fails to accelerate properly after 35mph or so and tends to have a "stalling" feeling when on the gas. Took it to dealership spent all day waiting there for them to tell me it was the "variable charge motion actuator" service guy told me they have replaced tons of these in the new Hyundais that have that engine and it shouldn't give me anymore problems, well it didn't...for two days. Came back from work and car did the SAME EXACT THING. Check engine light is on again, have an appointment Friday to get it replaced AGAIN. haven't even put 5k miles on it yet...
