Recall on my 2017 Hyundai Sonata was repaired 9/13/2019, purchased the vehicle with financing on 7/16/2021. On 8/18/2021, had vehicle towed back to the dealership and explained the issue. Engine knocking, tire pressure and engine lights on, frequent stalling, turning off, smell of gas and something burning, loss of power to the engine, car could not accelerate to 60 MPH. The dealership had my car till 9/20/2021, power train warranty was denied and voided, no loaner car was given, was not offered any reimbursement for car rental by dealership and Hyundai corporate. Although car is included in Theta class action lawsuit. I was correct about issue with engine, but the dealership replaced engine with used parts. No later than five days after having my car back, the engine and tire pressure lights came back on, car is tugging, and the engine noise is louder. I don-??t believe that they replaced the engine with OEM parts.

its been recalled and check engine light on since July 2021. The Hyundai is not addressing it properly and behaving very irresponsible when i spoke to their customer service. They assign the case manager and he never called or contacted me through email. Also their appointment availability is 30+ days and they will diagnose only after 7 days after the appointment. Till then no loaner or any sort of arrangements to the owners. Moreover the vehicle is very much under warranty. I am able see the following problems 1. Check engine light 2. On August 31st 2021, While driving my 2017 Hyundai Sonata PHEV on interstate 95 the check engine and hybrid system warning lights came on and the car simultaneously lost power for 3-4 seconds, which caused a decrease in speed from 65 to approximately 50 mph. There was a tractor trailer behind me but thankfully it braked to avoid striking my car. The car regained partial power and I was able to drive it home. I took the car to the dealership to have it repaired. The dealer diagnosed a faulty battery management system, and replaced this component after 17 days. On September 25, while driving on a street the car once again lost power for 3-4 seconds, with the check engine and hybrid system lights simultaneously illuminated. There was a recall on my vehicle several years ago to prevent this dangerous problem. I had the car repaired at that time but clearly the problem was not fixed as my car has subsequently lost power on two separate occasions, in a manner that could have easily caused a crash.

The thea-engine is bad and needs to be replaced. After diagnostics determined the engine indeed needs to be replaced; they added the rods and bearings did not cause issue so they will not cover cost. The big lie is that the, "rods and bearings was not part of the original evaluation diagnostics done on the engine. It was added to remove the connection that cause prior recalls. It is the same problem and millions of unsuspecting auto purchasers should be made aware. This company has been making cars since 2011 with faulty engines, "stay away" the dealership said the engine must be replaced

Had open recall, , an ECM update and wile Hyundai in columbia ct. And after it was done the car worked fine for about a week, now I'm lacking acceleration for miles per gallon has decreased 50% burning gas quickly plus is burning about a quart of oil a week, but there's no check engine light, change the spark plugs and air filter still the power has decreased 30%. I sometimes am able to turn it on again & turn it off & it's fine, but sometimes somehow when the engine is till running, when I go to 'turn it on' it's already on so I can just put it in drive.

I bought the car new in 2017. Since approximately 3000 miles, oil consumption has progressed from 1 quart per oil change to 3 quarts per oil change (vehicle has around 92K miles). Oil is changed every 7K miles with the recommended oil viscosity and type (synthetic) along with the factory oil filter change. No noted leaks or smoking, but there is valve train noise when the oil level is 1 quart low or lower.

I bought this vehicle from a used car lot. I keep all maintenance up on this vehicle since I work as a lube maintenance technician. I noticed that the engine burns oil at a very fast rate. Not even 2000 miles into my maintenance interval the engine is dry. The oil lamp turns on. There is no leaks from the engine. I knew this was gonna be a problem to fix and I knew it would be very expensive. I just basically changed my oil more often. I was driving it from work and then it suddenly started idling rough and it started stuttering real bad. I took it to a mechanic to diagnose the problem and they told me a cylinder is blown and it could possibly need a new engine. I've only had this car for 2 years!! and I'm dealing with having to replace and engine on a 2017 Hyundai Sonata I have kept very well maintained. This car has only traveled in the southern California area. This problem started in yorba linda California. My vehicle is currently in shop not even touched yet because I want to know if there is possible a recall on this engine.

The low oil indicator light does not function at all when the oil drops below normal. The engine uses an excessive amount of oil for normal uses. My vehicle goes through about 5 quarts of oil a month if not more and the vehicle is not leaking any oil at all. My vehicle has been inspected for leaking. My vehicle has stalled out at busy traffic lights, intersections and has not started due to oil issues.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle began to shudder with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact managed to veer to the shoulder of the road, turn the vehicle off, get out the vehicle, and check as an abnormal odor appeared. The vehicle was towed to the dealer however while the vehicle was being towed, the tow driver informed the contact that evidence of flames were present under the hood. The vehicle was towed to the dealer sansone automall (90-100 route 1 N, avenel, NJ 07001 (866) 328-3333) where it was diagnosed and determine that the rod bearings needed to be replaced. The engine was repaired however the failure recurred as the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for a second diagnosed test which determined the engine coolant cylinder failed. The contact mentioned NHTSA campaign number: 20V746000 (engine) as a possible solution to the failure however the VIN and year of the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however did not compromise a solution to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Excessive oil consumption. I bought the car in used condition back in June 2019 with approximately 82,000 miles on it. It currently has 125,000 miles on it and only recently have I been experiencing this issue. I change the oil on this car every 5,000 miles or so since I do plenty of commuting for work. The last time I took my car to get the oil changed before I noticed the problem was in December 2020. I never bothered to check the oil because I had complete confidence that the oil was topped off at every oil change. However, I started noticing that the car felt forced whenever I tried to accelerate. I also started noticing a subtle rattling noise coming from under the hood whenever I would try to accelerate. I had a mechanic check my car in January 2021 when he checked the oil levels and pointed out that there was nothing on the dipstick. What is even stranger is that no dashboard light had come on. I had driven the car approximately 2,500 since the the oil change in December and it was already empty. I checked under the car where I park both at home and at work and there are no oil spills on the ground. I've read several forums where people have the same issue with older models of this car and there are recalls for those models. However, I've also come across forums where people are experiencing the same issue with newer models such as mine. I will be taking this car to a Hyundai dealer to address the issue. But at this point, I have to add about quart of oil every just to keep it full and to prevent the engine from seizing while I am driving. This is a huge concern.
