This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Hyundai dealer.
Purchased a brand new car because I was tired of major malfunctions - being with out my car, etc.... Now right at a year in on this car (purchase in July 2017), and just under 17K miles, power steering has ongoing issues. Working with dealer service who of course can't get it to duplicate. They wanted to put me back out on the roan in it and "see what happens". Umm - NO, I don't think so!
They have now had it > 24hours and are keeping it again today. Just now getting a loaner from the dealer.
Also, I had no problems at all with this auto for almost 10 months. Then we went on a long road trip and for the 1st time ever used the "ECO" and "SPORTS" driving mode features - and now all of a sudden - problems...are they related - possibly - my guess is absolutely .. others reporting same issue here agree!
I am just surprised by the fact that all I had to do was Google the problem and pages on pages of complaints & Hyundai acts like this is the first time they are hearing of such a thing....shady!
Service Manager at dealership has been as gracious as possible, but I understand they can not fix something that is turning up a code that even Hyundai can't decipher. Had to put in a claim report with Hyundai 800 customer service. I'll let you know how it goes.
So far they want to replace all my steering. It is sad to buy a brand new car and have to have repair work of this magnitude done!

Lately I have noticed the car wandering more. The tires were rotated about 3 weeks ago and maybe I have noticed it a bit more. I drive most of the time on the Interstate at around 75mph. It doesn't drift off the road but it does require constant slight adjustments. I drive 99% of the time in ECO mode, so I guess I will have to try Sport. I was not told by the sales person that the different modes affected the steering. My thought was that maybe the wheels were set toed in instead of out. When driving you can set the wheels straight and it will remain that way for a bit and then is just starts to drift one direction. Other than the steering drift and that fact the plastic over the clock scratches easily, I enjoy the car.

It's difficult to keep driving straight on a highway. Car is wandering a lot.

At interstate highway speed, the steering wheel will stick. I can nudge it a bit and it unsticks but then the car wanders in the direction I nudge it. Results in wandering back and forth in my lane.
