Had Elantra for 14 years very few problems great gas miles so got another Hyundai. But a Sonata, a mpg 25 city is not bad. Well, the sucker only gets 17mpg city - my Ford pickup 4.2 gets that. Highway miles suck as much. I told the sales person about bad mpg and black crap at tail pipe. So he had mech there to blow crap up my ass and it worked, I got the car.
Now I wish I had gone with another make - Ford, Chevy, Honda.
Plus this crap - I hear about the gdi 2.0 and 2.4 motor are burning up, like an ongoing thing. They have a new recall but mine is not on the list, why not? It's the same motor, same plant. I guess it has to burn before its listed.

The 2019 Sonata SEL is giving - 18 -19 MPG around town! Hyundai CLAIMS the car will get 25 MPG city.
One or two MPG lower in a place with hills and stop signs would be acceptable... BUT 29% less??
I am older and drive very smooth and genitally, accelerating smooth and slowly, coasting to stops, and letting go of the gas as soon as I see the need to stop ahead. I am a "car guy" and keep records of my cars and EVERY thing that is done on them and every drop of gas that goes in and at what millage.
This is V8 1960s car MPG..
I do hope a class-action law suit will come of this, Evidently Hyundai has been sewed before over FALSE MPG claims...
