Sonata Hybrid Premium FWD 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 87,500 miles

I bought this car through CarGurus from Olavto Export. Been watching it for weeks until it reach $7300.00. For my zip code it is valued around $8500.00. In Hollywood Florida where it was located $9600.00. Rated as Great Deal on CarGurus.com. Owner Alex and his accomplice (Russians) raved about the car being in excellent condition and attributed the slight hesitation to being how hybrids behave. Upon taking it home to Orlando 200+ miles stopped at rest stop. After a wee-wee break the car began to hesitate at a stopped position and the check engine light came on. After a couple seconds it began to accelerate to normal speed without any hesitation.

The vehicle made it home (thank God) hesitating to take off at every stop. Called Alex same day, no response. Sunday, no response. Monday called, hung up. Tuesday same. Took it Monday to a Hyundai dealer. Code reads P0A2D. Dealer says there's a TSB and the suggestion is to replace transmission. $4914.42 estimate.

Second opinion at another Hyundai dealer with same diagnostic-$4700.00. Just a deal to beat the first dealer. Remanufactured transmission with 12mo./12,000 mile warranty.

This state need to change this AS-IS policy which is just a license for fraudulent (criminal) behavior.

Sonata Hybrid Hybrid 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 44,000 miles

Think I may have a lemon Sonata.

At 41000 had a new transmission installed, all under warranty. Happy with car then.

Took a vacation to Yosemite this summer climbing up the 9000 foot summit, car barely made it. Lots of warning lights went off, car running very poorly. Took it to Hyundai and they replaced the Hybrid system under warranty. Thought that took care of the car.

Now when the car is warmed up then coming to a complete stop, and starting up the car hesitates with little power to get across the street. Seems like a safety issue. So took it back to Hyundai they kept it for 2 days and could not recreate the problem.

It still has the problem, and it is still under factory warranty.

Really don't know what to do.
