Sonata Hybrid 2.4L L-4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 54,059 miles

The warranty expired at the end of July. The car broke down August 30, 85 Km south of the nearest town, Merritt. (I was stranded there until late at night as frequent misfortune events the last several years have taxed my liquid assets.) The next morning it was towed an hour's drive, 90 km, to Kamloops. I never went to the dealership so I didn't get a courtesy car. I caught a ride back 3 hours to Chilliwack. Extended warranty with Tricare until 2014.

Five weeks before Hyundai decided not to Good Will it because there is Tricare warranty. Then Tricare said they needed engine torn apart at my expense to find out the cause of Drive Box failure. The cause was not determined other than not a maintenance issue. Tricare into week six, declined warranty coverage of repair yesterday. I hear other 2014 Sonata Hybrids have had engine issues, and that this has been an ongoing issue with Hyundai and Kia with ath least three major recalls, including a1.4 million vehicles 2017 recall in the USA, Canada & South Korea. I don't have a primary cause for my car's engine failure. Frustrated.
