On August 31, 2021, My Hyundai Sonata PHEV lost power while driving on I95 due to hybrid system failure, nearly causing a semi to plow into the rear of my car. The car limped back to the dealership. They ran the codes and determined a faulty battery management system. Took several weeks for the part to come in and have the car repaired. The car worked fine for a week before having the same issue again.

After having my 2017 Sonata PHEV repaired under warranty for Hybrid system failure, the car worked fine for 1 week before again experiencing hybrid system failure, characterized by a loss of power while driving and illumination of the check engine light. Returned the car to the dealership..the scan tool indicated that a different battery management system had failed. Waited a months for the part to arrive…when I finally picked up my car on Nov 3, 2021 I didn’t even make it to the first traffic light before the car once again died..The dealership then diagnosed a failed high voltage battery and I never drove the car again…see separate complaint.
