I have issues with my car and the gas tank, charcoal canister and valves. I have had to pay over $1,000 to have these fixed twice. I have been getting very sick driving my car and do not feel that it is safe to drive. The fumes come into my car and are very heavy, especially in the heat. I am very concerned for my health and my safety and have almost gone to the hospital. I have had to go on steroids and breathing medications for the issues. I have seen similar complaints by multiple people in regards to the same problems. I would like some help with this and have found that the valve is defective and will often get stuck. Please look into this. Thank you.[xxx]..updated 05/07/15 updated 05/26/15 information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Fuel tank shut-off problem. Unable to refuel car more than.5 gallon before shut-off valve closes. Problem started slowly and sporadically over 5-year period, and progressed to full-time. Also unable to determine when/if car is fully refueled, 100% of time when adding fuel. Eventually, tank becomes overfilled and gas is spilled nearly 100% of time. Online forums document literally hundreds of similar issues among other owners. Hyundai dealership acknowledges problem, however no recalls have been issued.
