The contact owns a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon with sigma sector tires (tire line is P215/45/R17). The contact stated that there was abnormal cracking on the exterior of the sidewall. He felt that this could increase the risk of serious injury or crash. He concluded that the tire pressure and tread was normal. The failure and current mileages were 18,000.

Consumer could not drive no more than 10 mph in the rain due to no traction on Michelin 215-45-17 tires. The consumer and his wife own the same vehicle which were both equipped with Michelin tires as original equipment. The tires had virtually no traction in snowy conditions and as a result the consumer's had to drive very slowly to avoid sliding off the road. The consumer purchased another brand of tire which handle better in the rain but still don't handle well in the snow.

My Hyundai Tiburon was partially submerged in flood water Dec 26, 2003. The air bag light stays on but did, not deploy. At 10,000 mi I was told my warranty was canceled, eventhough I'm still the initial owner. There are several recalls on the vehicle. Since I still driving the vehicle, I need the recalls taken care of.

Vehicle equipt with low profile sports tires. While driving on SR2 in jeruselum township Ohio I lost control of the vehicle and began skidding on black ice. Anti-lock brakes did not engage to my knowledge and $9000 damage was done to the vehicle. Rear axle failed during the impact into an embankment which absorbed much of the impact. Side airbag deployed as designed but front did not. I am assuming that this is due to me sliding backwards up the embankment without any direct frontal impact. I walked away from it but am concerned about the fact that Hyundai has marketed this car towards the younger "invinvible" generation who do not realize these tires aren't made for fast driving in bad weather. I am also concerned about why the antilock brakes did not engage. The car is at brown automotive and is still awaiting repair. I have informed the insurance company about the brakes and will follow up with this report when I get word.
