2006 Hyundai Tiburon SE clutch malfunctioning and failure. Poor quality and deformed parts used. Warranty classifies parts as "wear parts." I took my car in for its scheduled maintenance visit to R.C. Hyundai in roswell, ga. After 2 days I experienced acceleration issues and went back to R. C. dealership. On duty technician informed me the clutch was the source of the problem and it would cost me 2,000.00+ usd. When I asked why I was told this was covered by warranty during the original sales process ireceived inconclusive answers. After a little internet research I discovered: A class action pending stemming from 03-04 Hyundai Tiburon's choice of clutch parts (fly wheel to be specific) and numerous post on edmunds car space ( over 5 pages of enraged Hyundai Tiburon 03-07 owners') Hyundai refuses to acknowledge the faulty, deformed and defective parts that make up its clutch and continue charging hard working, honest people $2,000 to fix a problem they know exists and will continue to fail. Blaming it on how the car is driven is both a shameful business practice and crime against consumers everywhere.

2006 Hyundai Tiburon clutch failure. We noticed that the clutch was starting to slip. Shifter started to get stuck in gear. Took to dealership where purchased and was told that it was going to cost $2000 to replace the clutch, they also proceed to question me saying that it appears that the car has been raced. We do not race our vehicles. In reading other complaints, this seems to be an on going problem with the standard transmissions in the Hyundai's. I am to wonder if this make and model of vehicle should continue on the market. In order for the dealership to uphold the warranty, you have to have the vehicle maintenance done at a Hyundai dealership and at the specified mileage. The maintenance is not cheap on this vehicle. Our vehicle is at 32,000 miles maintenance was to be done at 30,000 miles, we were unable to afford the almost $600 for the maintenance. Now they want $2000 to replace the clutch and fly wheel. Someone really needs to check into the manufacturing of this make and model.

Approximately around 18,500 miles on my purchase-new 2006 Hyundai Tiburon SE, I began to notice some clutch slippage when accelerating from a stand-still. Weeks later I had taken my car to the local dealership I purchased the car from to get the oil changed, and a routine inspection. At this time they found a small leak in the transmission, so they put some dye in it and asked me to come back a week later so they can track where it was. A week later I brought my car back and they said they wanted to replace the entire transmission, under warranty. I gave them the okay to do this. During the replacement process the clutch and flywheel was found to have 'hotspots' on it and was recommended to be replaced. I was already aware of possible clutch problems with the car before I purchased it, and was informed by the salesmen that they don't think there will be a problem and I would be taken care of. Regardless I was weary because of the many problems described on an online Tiburon enthusiast message board (www.newtiburon.com). in which it is suspected poor design of the hydraulic system including but not limited to the slave cylinder valve spring to be the cause of these common, premature clutch failures. Due to costs of the replacement parts, and limited time to take further action, I authorized the dealership to replace the clutch and pressure plate only, leaving the current flywheel in the car. This only cost me about $375, since the transmission was already being replaced that dramatically reduced the labor costs. Regardless it is still money I had to spend on a part that should not have to be replaced after only 18,500 miles on the car. I can only guess as to if this problem will crop up again, some 15,000+ miles down the road. Now at about 20,500 miles I have not had any problems yet, but the day is not over.

2006 Hyundai Tiburon clutch failure at 17,000 miles. Manufacturer say it is driving habit failure and not covered under their warranty. Seam to be a problems with many other customers.

On June 11, 2007 at 26,577 miles, I experienced on my way in to work while driving, a slight stick and a definite "click" sound from my clutch pedal. While at a traffic light I experienced complete clutch failure, the car would not go in to gear. The invoice from the dealership states "internal part on master clutch broken-remove and replace master clutch". on October 15, 2007, at 37,500 miles, there began a similar clutch pedal problem, later the rpms of the engine were increasing, however the gears were not engaging fully, another clutch failure in less than six months. After doing some research, I have found that there is not only a class action lawsuit against the Hyundai corporation for a defective clutch in the 2003 Hyundai Tiburon.(us district court orange county, California; case number 06cc00052) I have also found quite a few complaints not only of the clutch, but the Hyundai corporations refusal to honor it's own warranty with it's customers. It is in my opinion that this corporation lacks the integrity to monitor itself and I am asking the NHTSA to investigate this problem.

Clutch master cylinder was found to be falling apart. Replaced by dealer in Dec. 2006. Clutch failed Oct 2007. Vehicle inoperable. Dealer and manufacturer refusing to repair under warranty. Quoted $2,000 to repair clutch.

Bought a 2006 Tiburon, I drive the car to work and back lightly (no hard acceleration, racing etc). After 9000 miles the clutch suddenly went out, leaving me stranded on the road, needed to be towed into dealership, took 6 days to get the car back on the road, they replaced the entire clutch assembly. Dealership repaired under warranty. I'm having other issues with the car including uneven acceleration and high idling. The car isn't even a year old, wouldn't recommend this model to anyone.

I just recently purchased my vehicle. I'm in the military so I put a lot of miles on it driving home all the time. After a month and a half and 5000 miles roughly, my clutch started slipping and then gave out. It was sudden and complete. The tech's at the dealership I took it to stated that my clutch had been severely fried like I was racing it. Fortunately they didn't remove my warranty but they did charge me $900 for it.

I have 2006 Hyundai Tiburon and at 9440 miles I started having clutch problems and was told that this is normal and now the car is not even a year old and has 17000 miles on it and it is in the shop to get a new clutch witch is about $900 dollars. This seems to be something that is happening a lot. The warranty is 5 years bumper to bumper. Or the clutch is 12000 miles but I see why they just brushed me off at 9440 miles so the could get the money in 2500 more miles.

Car started to have a clutch pedal problem around 5000 miles, so I took it to the dealer and they said it was normal nothing to worry about. Then at about 10,000 miles the clutch began slipping so I took it once again to the dealer. They said "yep the clutch is pretty worn out it should be replaced but we aren't sure if it will be covered under warranty" so they told me I need to authorize the payment for the clutch repair which was $1100. Well I am a college student and working to own this car and I didn't have the money to authorize that so I pursued the Consumer Affairs department and after a bout a month driving the car with the slipping clutch. I got approval to have the clutch inspected at no charge by the dealer they then told me that the clutch is so worn that I looks like it was severely abused and therefore not warrantable and it even seemed as though you were racing your vehicle so we has permanently removed the warranty on this vehicle. So as of today 11/6/06 the car is still at the dealership waiting.

I recently purchased a Hyundai Tiburon 2006. At 3500 miles the clutch has gone out, completely. I have owned approximately 4 stick shifts and have been able to drive a stick for 20 years. Two of the manual transmission vehicles I owned (one a Saturn, the other an Audi) had more than 100K on them when I sold or replaced them. The dealership is replacing the clutch for free, but I am concerned, after reading of similar and numerous other stories on the web, that this will be a continual problem.

On December 15, 2005 I purchased a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon GT. After only 2500 miles the clutch went out. I have plenty of experience driving a manual transmission, so they couldn't blame me for riding the clutch. I'm now at 5400 miles and the clutch has gone out again. There is no reason for this, it just causes me frustration, and money that I pay for a car that doesn't work.
