The DBC warning light illuminated in red. The owner's manual states when this happens the DBC feature may be malfunctioning. Twenty minutes later, smoke is pouring our of the left lower steering column. After turning the vehicle off and opening all four doors (to clear the awful smell), I look under the hood to find no evidence of a fire. Clearly the electrical system is now in "melt-down" mode. Finally, I start it back up to nurse it along to our local Hyundai dealership. In the meantime, all the warning lights begin blink erratically, the power steering fails, and at one point, while stopping along the way, I turn the car off. However, the car does not shut off though I'm now holding the keys in my hand and standing outside the car! Once I turn the headlights off (it was mid-afternoon during a dark, cloudy rain) manually via the lever, the vehicle shuts off (I'm still holding the keys in my hand)! We are now back on the road...I pull into the dealership parking lot, I turn the car off but it will not allow me to put it into park. This, of course does not permit me to shut off the car entirely, so it's now stuck in "ACC" mode. I must depress the parking brake to keep it from rolling. This is how I had to leave it over night: unlocked with the car partially "on", thus wearing down the battery and the parking brake engaged. I am waiting to hear from the dealership as to what they find. Hyundai Customer Service wonders if it's related to Recall #110 (stop lamp switch) which was performed a couple of years ago. We shall see....
