We have a 2011 Hyundai Tucson and it has a 2.4L engine. We parked it on Friday night in the driveway and it would not start on Saturday. It did turnover but there seemed to be no fuel. The immobilized indicator light came on which we have not seen before. The vehicle took a trip to the dealership to find out there is no compression in any of the cylinders. Upon investigation, the tensioner failed causing the belt to slip. This motor is identical to the motor that has had all the recalls (from what I understand) but the Tucson was not included in the recall. It currently has over 204,000 Km's
Has anyone has similar issues? If its a hydraulic tensioner, would these oil pressure issues not affect the tensioner as well?
Hyundai says they will not cover it and 10,000 CAD for a new motor. The vehicle isn't even worth that.

Timing Belt slipped resulting in pistons misfiring and complete engine failure. Replaced with a used engine saved me a little money, the dealership was asking over 12k to replace with a new engine. Called Hyundai Canada and they would not do anything about it. The dealership also contacted them and wouldn't do anything since it was outside of the warranty period at 6.5 years old and 210k kms. Just glad it didn't happen while I was driving! Oddly enough just wouldn't start in the driveway one day.
