I am writing to express my concerns regarding the recall repair performed on my 2015 Hyundai Tucson on October 5th, 2022. I have received numerous letters from Hyundai regarding an open recall and finally received a notice stating the remedy was ready. I scheduled an appointment with Matthews Hyundai of Syracuse and took the vehicle for the recall. Unfortunately, after taking the vehicle back to the dealership, I was advised that the check engine light was on and the issue was a result of a faulty knock sensor and purge valve. I was asked to pay more than $100 for the repairs. However, after further discussion, it was concluded that I wouldn't be charged. However, after only two days, the engine check light came on again, and the speed reduced to 45 MPH on the highway. I was then told that the problem was from the ignition coil and was charged $232.72 for the repairs. Despite paying the full price, the same problem occurred again, and I had to take the vehicle back to the dealership seven times, paying a total of $1,160.67. Throughout this recall repair failure, the vehicle's check engine light would come on, or it would randomly lose power, making a knocking sound and reducing speed even while driving. I no longer feel safe in this vehicle, and it has resulted in thousands of lost wages as it is the only vehicle I use for my work and personal use. On December 1st, I wrote a complaint to the New York division of vehicle safety and was advised to take the vehicle to a different Hyundai authorized dealership for diagnostics. I took the vehicle to Burdick Hyundai of Cicero, and after a week, they stated they were able to find the problem. However, Hyundai denied the claim for repairs on the vehicle. Since then the vehicle inspection has expired, and I took the vehicle to a shop for inspection. They stated they could not pass the inspection as the vehicle speed would not exceed 45MPH.

Financed for a 2015 Hyundai Tucson at Byrider. On February 25th 2023. Check engine light flashing as I'm losing power unable to stay within speed limit at 40mph. Byrider service asked me to bring it in. I did. They called me back and hour later told me to come get the vehicle and take it to Hyundai. I told them I didn't feel safe driving the vehicle it was hard enough getting the vehicle to them only able to drive 40mph on the interstate. I was told they would have it towed to Hyundai west off Pike plaza. They still haven't received the vehicle and I'm unable to reach Byrider service waiting for a return phone call. Please help what do I do now?..

Twice in the last nine months (roughly December 14, 2020 at 67,000 miles & 9/7/21 at 84,300 miles) I have been left stranded on the side of the highway due to what two different Hyundai dealerships call "complete engine failure", which requires the replacement of the entire engine. Ultimately, when I asked what a "complete engine failure" entailed, the dealerships both told me there were metal flakes throughout my engine and that the engine had to be replaced. Both times the symptoms were as follows: loss of acceleration and a horrible ticking noise. The gas pedal is pushed to the floor and the car will not move forward. "Pop" or "Knock" and the engine starts smoking. No check engine light. No check oil pressure light. This is all within about 2 minutes. Moving from 65mph to 0 in a matter of 90 seconds without braking, when you have a semi truck behind you is terrifying. You put your hazards on immediately, pull over as soon as possible, and pray that nobody hits you. You try to stop and your brakes don't seem to be doing their job but you are finally able to stop. Once you've pulled over and the car stops smoking, you pop the hood. Immediately you notice the dipstick for the oil is about halfway out of the engine and oil has exploded everywhere under the hood. I purchased the car 14 months ago and so far, four of those months it has been undriveable due to complete engine failure, requiring replacement and fighting with Hyundai to do the right thing and repair it, which they refuse to do. Even when there is an active campaign (Campaign 966) to update the software to trigger a warning light. The campaign was issued 3/30/21 & I just received notification via first class presorted mail to have the software updated on 9/11/21. They say they won't make the repairs because it is out of warranty. I call lies. This is a direct result of failing to notify me in a timely manner to get the software update that would have at least supposedly triggered a warning light.

Received 2 recall notices to have the engine control software updated with an anti-knock prevention feature. We updated the software at the dealer before the second letter from Hyundai which notified us that the software will limit engine performance and vehicle speed if actuated, and that we should take it to the dealer for repair should this occur. This is perceived to be a sales gimmick for Hyundai that is unavoidable if actuated. The Hyundai 1-800 help line could not answer the questions regarding an option to remove the software to avoid this event, or the cost to make the mandated repairs when they occur. They also promised a 120,000 warranty update notification that was never sent to us promised 3-5 days after installation. We perceive the software installation a safety issue because it commands your vehicle into a limiting state. The recall is labelled: Product improvement campaign number 953. 2015 Hyundai tiucson, a car we otherwise love, and a 3rd Hyundai in 7 years.

When accelerating into traffic the car lags or stops as if I put the car in neutral many times I am next to a vehicle and cann't pull back over on on coming traffic has to hard stop or swerve to avoid hitting me. This of course puts me and on coming vehicles in danger

There have been several occasions that have put me at risk because of an acceleration hesitation. I step on the gas pedal and the vehicle takes many moments to start moving. This almost resulted in an accident more than three times, but most importantly when the car seemingly stalled while crossing an intersection. All circumstances were when the vehicle was starting from a stopped or near stopped situation.

I was waiting to turn left, after checking both directions, I tried to accelerate and could barely move. At this point I saw a car headed toward me that I could not see due to a car being parked along side of the road. I tried to get out of the way, but my Tucson would not move. This resulted in being T-boned. VIN photo included I have more photos available if needed

I was parking in a parking garage and had to make a right turn into a space with cars on both sides. When I normally park, my foot is over the brake and I tap the brake as I go in. In this case, as soon as I began turning right, my car took off like a shot. It felt like a car being floored. I barely missed one of the cars and slammed into a concrete wall, making a 4 X 6 hole in the wall and setting off the air bag in the steering wheel. The car was smoking and I immediately shut it off so there would be no fire.
