While driving on a highway the sunroof on my 3 week old car suddenly imploded at random. It was not hit by any objects or debris. The panoramic roof was closed at the time but the screen underneath was open so that you could see through the window. The glass was scattered throughout the front and back seats as well as found on top of the back portion of the roof. No injuries resulted but an extremely dangerous defect that should be addressed immediately.

Exploding sunroof. I had just gotten onto the expressway driving my brand new 2015 Hyundai tuscon. I had only had the car for about a week. I was traveling at approximately 65 mph when I heard a very loud "pop" sound. I thought it was a gunshot. Then the mesh sunroof visor began to sag and I could hear and feel wind coming into the vehicle from that area. I got off the expressway, pulled over and got out to look at the roof. The entire sunroof was shattered. There were large and small shards of sharp glass sitting on top of the mesh interior sunroof cover. I tried to move them because they were causing the mesh to sag so much, but I cut my fingers while doing this so I stopped. I immediately drove the vehicle to the dealership where I had purchased it (about 20 miles away). While driving, I was frightened that the weight of the glass on the mesh would cause it to rip or collapse. At the dealership, they did not tell me about Hyundai sunroof recalls that I have since read about. Now they want me to come and pick up the "repaired" vehicle but I am very concerned that this is a recurring defect.
