My 2016 Hyundai Tucson front passenger door will not open from the outside. I have to open it from the inside. My back right passenger door was not able to open from either inside or outside and I had to have it replaced at the dealership. This is a major safety issue, and it appears that this happens a lot with this make and model. NHTSA should really look into this and issue a recall.

Originally when I purchased my car I complained to the dealer about my radio going black and they claimed it was due to the cold and brushed it off. Now recently I had the same issue but now as I was driving straight on the highway all of the lights on the dash keep flickering on and off telling me to check every system. My car signals/hazards will not work. Speedometer will not work along with blind spot recognition and other things.

My back passenger door lock actuator is failing. I am unable to open my door from the inside or outside after the door has been locked. Once you hit the unlock button, there is a tiny part in the lock actuator that is not fully returning to the left which leaves that specific door still locked. It takes several pulls/pushes on the door to get it open again and sometimes it can take days before I can get it to open again. My husband was able to take the door panel off to see the functionality of the actuator and was able to see the part was failing when he would try to unlock the door with the key foib/unlock button. Based on my research this is a known issue with Hyundai Tucsons but Hyundai has not issued a recall and will charge a diagnostic fee of $100 plus cost of labor and part to repair. This is a serious safety concern for my passengers and should be an issue Hyundai makes right. This issue is occurring regardless if my vehicle is running or not.

The rear driver door is stuck closed no matter what I do. After looking online, it seems like multiple people are having the same issue with the door actuator going out. Now if people are in my back seat, people are stuck and have to go out the other door. My fear now is the other door will go out also and someone will be stuck in the back of my car.

2016 Hyundai Tucson rear passenger door will not open from the inside or outside. This happened January 2021. I was waiting for the entire fire recall to come up with a fix so I could take it in at the same time. Now, the front driver door will not open from the outside, only the inside. Hyundai is saying it is out of warranty and I will need to pay for both. Quick research online shows me that there are hundreds of people also experiencing this problem. This should be evaluated as it is a safety issue if my car catches fire before there can be a fix for the recall and myself or my passengers are unable to get out of the car if it is on fire.

The door lock actuators in my 2016 Hyundai Tucson failed repeatedly. The first was on November 3, 2020, one week outside of the warranty. The second door lock actuator failed today (Feb 5, 2021). This is a significant safety issue as the doors cannot be opened from either the inside or out because they fail in the "locked" position. If there were a fire or other accident, the occupants would be trapped inside, resulting in a fatality. The latch mechanism won't unlock from either the physical mechanical toggle or remote signal. This occurs then the vehicle is stationary. This is a huge safety concern discussed on numerous online Hyundai forums. We are all wondering why 1) Hyundai has not issued a safety recall 2) why the NHTSA has not stepped in and required Hyundai to issue a safety recall. Not being able to exit or enter a car during an emergency is a huge risk to all, especially children, the elderly, and handicapped persons. I can't think of a greater safety issue than being trapped in your vehicle. Please intervene! thank you. Erik spedale https://https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-T57988_ds1084478

We were never informed there was a recall on this car when we purchased it from the Hyundai dealer. We had several electrical issues and have gone to the dealer for repair and they never mentioned the recall involving the electrical system in our Tucson. We had the latest electrical issue with our door not closing. We have had continued electrical issues with this car and mission hills Hyundai dealership has not mentioned the recall on this vehicle. They continue to fail to repair our car's recall issue.

The doors on this car keep failing to open. About 3 years ago I had to replace the locking mechanism on the driver front door. The door would not open from the outside. Then about 2 years ago I had to replace the door locking mechanism on the driver rear door. Now I need to replace the mechanism on the passenger rear door. This is a huge safety concern if we are unable to get out of the vehicle in case of an emergency.

The incident occurred to me while I was 7 hours from home. I was stopped at a stop sign on a curve in the road. When clear, I accelerated and as I turned and merged into the road, the car started making a loud knocking noise and lost power as I was going up hill. Right before I lost all power, the oil light flashed briefly and the engine light came on. I restarted the car and again heard a loud knocking noise but was able to pull over to the side of the road. As soon as I slowed and stopped it died again. I ended up getting towed to the Hyundai dealer. The next day I called and they let me know I had "thrown a rod and had bearing damage". they said I need a new engine and quoted me $12,800. I have provided all service records to them which prove that I have maintained the vehicle with oil changes and major services done at Hyundai as well as valvoline. Their initial offer to me was they would cover 50% of the repair. My service advisor countered them with 90% and their final offer was to cover 60% and no rental - even being 7 hours from home. Before this incident occurred, I have not been able to open my rear passenger door in months due to needing a new actuator. I also let them know that I believed there was electrical issues because my tail light was always going out even after being replaced. I was dismissed and told that I had a faulty bulb. Same day after getting replaced, I was again getting that "check brake light" message. I believe there is a recall that I do not qualify for for this issue. After much research, I have found engine failure is a major problem with Hyundai with many people on their 2nd and 3rd engines, including 2 people in my own family. I am extremely disappointed in the way Hyundai is handling this situation and I will no longer be a Hyundai customer. Please let me know if I can provide any further information. Thank you!

In September 2020 we were advised by Hyundai not to park our vehicle in our garage or near a building due too a fire hazard. It is now mid-January and they still have not come up with a fix for this problem. See https://autoservice.hyundaiusa.com/campaignhome/campaign/index and attached.

In my 2016 Hyundai tuscon the rear passenger door will not open from the inside or outside. It locks and unlocks via keyless entry, indoor lock/unlock button and key fob unlock/lock button, however the door does not physically open. It spontaneous occurred when trying to get into my car. This is a huge safely concern if someone needed to leave my car in an emergency situation. Upon research this appears to be a chronic problem with a massive amount of 2016 models, some having issues with multiple doors. It appears to be an issue with the lock actuator that was installed is most of the 2016-2017 tuscons. Hyundai is not willing to acknowledgement that it is a safety concern that needs to be a recall on all of these models.

I purchased my vehicle used, from a car dealership; therefore, it had been serviced prior to purchase. Within two months of purchase the rear driver side door quit operating. The car was parked without the engine running when the door refused to open from the inside or the outside. I checked my warranty. It was still in effect but I was over the mileage requirement so the dealership would not cover the repair. (I commute to work) six months later, the rear passenger door ceased to operate. I transported a disabled individual to the doctor's office. The door worked when I left for the doctor's as I placed a walker in the back. The engine was running at the time. When I returned from the doctor, I parked, switched the engine off, and the door would not open from the inside or the outside. The disabled individual with me could not walk without the assistance of the walker. I could not get the walker out. I had to go borrow a walker, bring to the individual to be able to remove him from the car. This is very unsafe. Currently, the front passenger door is beginning to be difficult to open. It sometimes takes three attempts to open the door. I am afraid it will stop working as well. At this point I am driving an SUV that can only safely Transport two individuals and I am afraid that it won't be long before only one person can ride in it. My true fear is what happens when the driver door stops working? I have researched for a recall and their isn't one despite the fact their are numerous online complaints. I have not repaired the issue as I don't have the money it would take and from the complaints I have read it will only happen again. Please investigate this issue before someone is trapped in a car and hurt.

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while attempting to open the driver's side rear door, the door failed to open automatically by the keyfob or manually by the door. The contact mentioned that both passenger's side doors failed to open a year later. The contact stated that the only way to get out the vehicle was from the front driver's door. The dealer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to go to the dealer for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.
