The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that a week after purchasing the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic informed the contact that the warning light would be reset. While performing a final test drive, the mechanic became aware of smoke coming from under the hood of the vehicle. The mechanic pulled over and attempted to open the hood but was unable to do so. The mechanic then noticed fire coming from underneath the vehicle. The fire department arrived and extinguished the fire. No one was injured. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard by the police. The contact was made aware that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 20V543000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) which was the cause of the fire. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

When driving uphill on Vasco Rd between Brentwood, Ca & Livermore, CA started slowing down the more gas I gave the slower it went then suddenly there was a clattering sound all panel lights came on and engine died and would not restart. Tow truck driver said my engine blew. I usually get my oil changed between 5k & 7k. I just had my oil changed 600 miles ago. It is a 2.0 Hyundai 2016 Tucson. I read the NHTSA fined Hyundai for failure to recall engine failures on their 4 cyn and wondered if my car should have been included in any recalls.

When driving at a slow speed, such as in a line of cars going through a drive thru, the vehicle begins to skip. Almost hopping along rather than slowly moving. I have observed it happening in both eco mode and regular driving mode. This is not a constant but frequent. I also have instances of where it doesn't pick up speed and takes time to shift gears. I think it may be the transmission skipping and not shifting gears appropriately causing it to hop or jump. At all time the care was in motion and on city streets never on a highways.

Unexpected check engine and engine oil pressure lights came. There was a sudden knocking noise coming from the front/engine area so I pulled the vehicle over to the side of the highway to turn off. Turned the vehicle back on and was not able to accelerate. Brought vehicle to nearest Hyundai dealership and was told the engine was completely blown.

I had my vehicles oil change completed 3/17/21. On 3/31/21 my vehicles oil light displayed as having no oil. I immediately called and went back to the oil change center I've gone to for the 3 years I've owned the vehicle. They assured me there was no leak. I looked up the issue on the internet only to find I am one of many with this issue. I can't afford to pay for engine repairs especially when I've been consistent with my oil change maintenance. Hyundai needs to be held accountable and make these repairs or buy back the vehicles like Volkswagen had to do a few years ago.

While drive my car started marking a loud knocking noise and jumping back and forth and the oil came on. I pulled over and called my son. He came and checked it out, there was no oil in it. He put oil in and and I tried to drive home. The car had no power and shut down on me and my son had to tow me home. The engine light has came on 50 times and in the last year and them goes off. I took it to dealer ship 10 different times while the light was on, usually it goes off before I get there. They always claimed there was not a problem and said I got bad gas in it.

Excessive oil consumption resulted in engine failure with out warning lights appearing. Driving down the road, the engine stopped running, battery, oil and check engine lights appeared. The car rolled to a stop on the shoulder of the road. The car then would not restart, but had power and battery life left due to the battery being 1 yr old. The car had to be towed to a mechanic. The mechanic cited engine failure and said it was due to oil consumption. The oil had large amount of metal in it despite it having 128K miles on it.

On regular oil change the mechanic - technician shop commented to me on 11/15/2020 that the Hyundai Tucson 2016 4fwd was 2 bottle of oil low. The mechanics inspected for any leaks. They told me that come back two weeks for free refilled the oil again. On December 20, 2020 and January 20,2021. On the next oil replacement, the same shop indicated that the engine for sure of my Hyundai Tucson 2016 4dfwd was burning oil, for concern that they think in potential future I will need to remplace gasket or head gasket because the quantity of oil is currently burnt. I want to make sure that the vehicle is been maintained well and inspected every miles according to the Hyundai recommendation. Please don't hesitate to contact me and help me out for this solution and potential hundreds people out there due to is not any recall ban for this type of vehicle yet.

The incident occurred to me while I was 7 hours from home. I was stopped at a stop sign on a curve in the road. When clear, I accelerated and as I turned and merged into the road, the car started making a loud knocking noise and lost power as I was going up hill. Right before I lost all power, the oil light flashed briefly and the engine light came on. I restarted the car and again heard a loud knocking noise but was able to pull over to the side of the road. As soon as I slowed and stopped it died again. I ended up getting towed to the Hyundai dealer. The next day I called and they let me know I had "thrown a rod and had bearing damage". they said I need a new engine and quoted me $12,800. I have provided all service records to them which prove that I have maintained the vehicle with oil changes and major services done at Hyundai as well as valvoline. Their initial offer to me was they would cover 50% of the repair. My service advisor countered them with 90% and their final offer was to cover 60% and no rental - even being 7 hours from home. Before this incident occurred, I have not been able to open my rear passenger door in months due to needing a new actuator. I also let them know that I believed there was electrical issues because my tail light was always going out even after being replaced. I was dismissed and told that I had a faulty bulb. Same day after getting replaced, I was again getting that "check brake light" message. I believe there is a recall that I do not qualify for for this issue. After much research, I have found engine failure is a major problem with Hyundai with many people on their 2nd and 3rd engines, including 2 people in my own family. I am extremely disappointed in the way Hyundai is handling this situation and I will no longer be a Hyundai customer. Please let me know if I can provide any further information. Thank you!
