The driver side door will not unlock from the outside without pulling the handle a few times.
- Summerville, SC, USA
Rear passenger door will not open from either inside or outside. You can hear the lock click and the latch moves to unlocked but the door will not open when handle is pulled. This is a HUGE safety issue as anyone in the back seat CANNOT get out in case of an emergency and no one on the outside can get in! The issue began on 7/13/22 when the respective door seemed to "stick" but opened. On 7/14/22 it would not open AT ALL from either outside or by pushing from inside. I called the dealership and was told because my car was 5 years and 2 months old (but less than 60,000) it no longer fell under the manufacturers warranty. This is not a wear and tear issue. This is a complete SAFETY issue that needs to be considered for a recall and my own research has shown that this is a KNOWN issue with Hyundai vehicles lock actuators.
- Escalon, CA, USA
The rear passenger door is unable to be opened from either the inside or outside. The door is unlocked and unless I push on it from the outside first, it can not be opened.
- Philadelphia, PA, USA
Two of the 4 doors no longer open from either the inside or outside. They are not locked and are not damaged in anyway, they just stopped opening. This is a safety hazard as someone could get trapped in my car, or unable to get into the car to avoid danger.

Back passenger door will not open from the inside or outside
- North Chesterfield , VA, USA
door handle latch will not open door from inside or out due to either defective latch or cable. this is a very dangerous condition for occupant that could become trapped and unable to escape vehicle. seems that there are multiple reports of this happening. I already had one such latch replaced while my vehicle was still under warranty now another has failed. Thankfully this was not an emergency situation.
- Saint Peters , MO, USA
I have to pull multiple times on the Driver door handle before the door opens. Did research and found that the cable on the inside of the door handle may be over stretched causing the door to only open sometimes. This is a safety issue and there should be a recall. There are a lot of others complaints about this issue. Please issue a recall and take care of your customers.
- Bradenton, FL, USA
The doors are not opening. In some instanced both outside and inside the vehicle. The door handles are being pulled, but the door does not open. My wife is having the same issue with her vehicle which is the same make and model, just 1 year older model. This could represent a major danger to the occupants in an emergency if they cannot get into or out of the vehicle. After doing an online search about this manufactures defect, I have discovered that thousands of owners are having the same issue. I have also discovered that this issue was identified in Korea and corrected there. Thank you for contacting Hyundai Customer Care Center. Door lock actuators have failed causing the doors including driver's door not to be able to be opened. Researched online and there are numerous instances of this defect.
- Toano, VA, USA
Yesterday my rear passenger door on the driver's side stopped opening from the inside and outside. The door was unlocked and not on child lock. There is no way opening this door at the moment! It is a safety concern in case of an emergency and passengers must exit quickly! There are no warning lamps and I read on forums that it is a known problem yet Hyundai is charging a fee to diagnose the problem. If this is happening to many vehicles please make it a recall!
