Traveling with wife and infant westbound 210 freeway in pasadena, ca. At highway speed. Wife and I heard a continuous, muffled clicking sound for 20-30 seconds. I felt a slight loss of engine power, at which point, I began making my way from the hov lane to exit. While moving over, I saw a puff of light gray smoke from the rear followed immediately by similar smoke and then some flames from under the hood. There was very little to no engine power at this time as I came to a stop on the shoulder, placed it in park and turned off the ignition. As we stopped, the flames became much greater. We were all able to quickly exit and get to a safe distance. As an aside, we had only days before received a recall notice for this vehicle from Hyundai to address a manufacturer defect that could cause spontaneous, non-collision engine fires. I had not had opportunity to take it in yet.

I called to have the recall fixed and was informed there is a waiting list of unknown length. This could be a potentially fatal problem. There should not be a waiting list.

I purchased 2017 Tucson brand new at roughly 22K my engine seized and the 3rd connecting rod failed. After engine replacement I continued to have problems with rear driver side brake light continuously going out, bulb is not out but wiring scorched and bulb somehow continuously becomes loose. I have replaced front headlights repeatedly with the driver front shattering in housing. I have also replaced calipers and have gone through 7 sets of rotors. At roughly 60000 I noticed I was running out of oil in between every 3000 mile oil change. Continued to bring back to dealer for repair S. I have complained multiple times about hesitation when pulling out from stop and engine knocking. Multiple oil pan reseal gaskets replaced fuel pump replaced, oil always all over engine. At 110K my engine failed a second time with Hyundai denying all claims. Originally said they would reimburse me for rental but when they emailed me letter for 'goodwill ' reimbursement it was a release from liability waiver if I took their 'goodwill '. I have informed them of electric issues and how I feel unsafe with new recall and fire possibility and they informed me as long as no warning light is on it should not be an issue. I tried to trade vehicle in and no one would take my trade, it's 3 years old and worth nothing. Hyundai response was vehicles don't hold their value like they used to. I am disgusted with their dismissive customer care, 2 engines in a vehicle 3 years old and they insist there is nothing wrong with their product.

NHTSA #20V543000 recall number 195 still has no remedy for this year model. The dealer I just bought my vehicle from has 13/14 certified pre owned with open recalls of this nature. I purchased and then was told I could not take it until the recall was fixed. Understandable and appreciated. The next day nobody would answer my texts or messages. Upon researching I see why. Obviously I do not want to drive my child around in a 'new' vehicle that might catch fire. Why do you allow them to continue to sell them" why isn't there a remedy after 2.5 years?!"

Our 2017 Hyundai Tucson is going through a lot of oil. We are having a consumption test done. I called the Hyundai dealer where we had the oil change and he said he heard something about Hyundai Tucson's burning through a lot of oil. I did see a lawsuit for the 2016 models and think 2017 models are having similar issue. Our seat reclining electrical button is also failing the seat to recline properly.

At approximately 6:10 pm on Wednesday 8/7/19, I was on an outlying road turning on a roundabout, I had slowed to approximately 15 mph to enter the roundabout and was accelerating to exit it, when my 2017 Hyundai tuscon spontaneously and without warning shut off. The car slowed and the screens went black. I was able to get to the shoulder before it stopped completely and turn my hazard lights on. I waited a few seconds and tried the car, it started right up. I turned around and went home (8 minute trip, along outlying roads) I am unsure which component caused the malfunction that caused my car to spontaneously shut off.

N June 24, 2019 I discovered my vehicle was cyber control hacked.. mysterious radio code, interference with sirius radio signal, channels kept changing, cannot control volume, discovered an alien iphone connected to blue tooth, malicious link appeared on 6/11/19 when radio was taken down to manufacturing settings. Sporadic constant issues, ac fan just stops, car does not turn off, and car hesitates when accelerating after a stop. I decided to check out the console area of the sirius radio.. that is when I discovered an illegal android phone connection, an imei number, rogue firmware and wifi, a google powered reports to..., a map that does not turn off, 2 maps programmed on steering wheel console. 10-15 console icons were disabled, I then discovered when going to Hyundai on line I had an account either set up by Hyundai or the hackers in my name I could not access. It took the dealership assistance for me to get in. I discovered an out dated phone number and 2 id theft warnings from 4/19 I never received, the blue link I have elected but never downloaded the app for remote control was enabled and had a history of many voice commands. I tried to file a police report at oakland county sheriffs department, Michigan. They did not have the forensics capability to diagnose and refused the report. On 6/ 25/19 I went to the dealership where I leased my vehicle from, elder Hyundai of macomb, Michigan. The service manager was dismissive and started turning off icons, compromising evidence, he told me the car was safe to drive after many objections by me. The car has sat in my driveway since 6/26/19 as I am deathly afraid of using it cause injury and death to myself and others. I did file an online report with Hyundai usa on 6/26/19. They have only requested the imei number to trace the cell phone number. Hyundai and hacker are liable for my safety.

When trying to turn off the Tucson (vehicle has push button start) to refill the gas tank, the engine didn't turn off. While the engine was on, it restarted again the engine, all the warning lights turned on in the dashboard and the engine started to vibrate violently with RPM's around 500 RPM. Some seconds later the engine RPM stabilized (normal idle). I pressed the push button again and the engine turned off successfully. Went to the dealer but they were unable to duplicate the issue. No changes were made to the car.

On November 3rd, 2016 I purchased on 2017 Hyundai Tucson with $1500 and my 2016 Hyundai elentra trade-in. Onor about January 3rd, 2018 I experienced an issue of the driver seat not reclining and inclining, leaving me stuck in certain positions. I scheduled service at sage Hyundai and soon after the company closed without providing a service location. On or about February 2018 I had Hyundai of downey service my vehicle. Since February 2018 I have experienced six seat issue as mentioned-above and four service repairs. On March 20th, 2019 I filed a lawsuit in superior court. On March 22nd, 2019 Hyundai contacted me and offered $8,000 if I released them of liability and keep the defective vehicle. On each occasion the vehicle was in motion, stationary or on a city street or highway
