It should be stated first that I do regular oil changes in my Hyundai Tucson and was 700 miles from my next oil change. I purchased this vehicle around 2/8/22 (last year). This past weekend, I was driving and when I came to a stop, my oil light came on and the engine shut off. I managed to get my car to an auto store and the dipstick had no oil on it. We added a quart and managed to get the car home. On the way home, my engine was making a knocking sound. My husband took it for an oil change, and the tech noted that there was only about 2 quarts of oil (and that was after I had just added a quart). They completed a full oil change. We immediately made an appointment with Hyundai to have my car looked at and did not drive it until we were driving it to the appointment. On my way to the appointment, my engine began making a very loud knocking sound and would not accelerate properly. Finally, as I was pulling into the Hyundai dealership, my engine completely seized up, the oil and check engine light came on, and the car turned off while I was in the main road. I managed to coast it into the Hyundai parking lot. My Tucson is now at the Hyundai dealership after they had to tow it from the front of their parking lot and I am waiting on hearing back from them what is wrong. I am being told it could take one month before they can tell me anything, so I am without transportation for that long.

Knocking sound from car, engine light started flashing and unable to accelerate on highway, putting myself and others on the road in danger. Immediately pulled off highway at next available exit and had the vehicle towed to dealer who is negligent in service inspection - stating not part or recent recall or under warranty. Dealer will not return calls or elaborate on service assessment other than "new engine needed." Escalated ticket to Hyundai national account.

I have to have an extra container of oil to use once every other week and now the muffler is smelling bad no oil can light ever when on but when I bought it used, about 3 weeks later the engine light came on and it started to knock. I went to a Jiffy Lube and they said "you have no oil" there are no spots at work or my driveway! This engine is a joke

I have had my 2017 1.8L eco Hyundai Tucscon for 3 years now and recently it's been giving me signs of problems that are great concerns for safety, as well-known for this models; it only 62091 miles as of the day of this complaint. On Jan 15. 2023, I noticed that each time I start the car, it takes a little bit longer, then you hear a rattle sound and shaking of the engine block, then it start. Or the engine would suddenly slip, followed by a brief rattle sound while driving. I took it in for service to Manly Hyundai in Santa Rosa on Jan 27, 2023, but the mechanics there told me that they could not find where the problems are coming from, and that I would need to wait for an engine light to come on, as any diagnostic at this point maybe unnecessary and costly. Had I known that the 2017 Tucson had so many issues and recalls, or engine defects, specially the slipping or shaking on acceleration from idle, I would never put my money on a commuter like that. I AM STILL WORRIED FOR THE EUGINE NOT TO BLOW UP AS PER PREVIOUS INCIDENTS WITH THIS MODEL. Common issues: The18.0-liter eco 4-cylinder engines, which may have defective rod bearings. The bearings may wear prematurely. This can cause the engine to stall during operation. In extreme cases, a damaged connecting rod can puncture the engine block and cause the engine to leak oil onto hot components, leading to a fire. Please do something.

The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer and completed TSB: 21EM003H on the vehicle. The TSB was completed but the failure recurred. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing the catalytic converter to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,489.

the car was unresponsiveness when pushing the gas pedal, delay when accelerating, shaking, and the gears do not seem to change. this causes problems when trying to merge into traffic, make turns and anytime when acceleration is needed. We took it to the dealership said we needed a Dual Clutch kit however the vin does not have a recall therefore want to charge $2264. to fix the problem. it is obviously a manufacture defect. the car has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were not any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. this problem has been going on for 6 months.

I have had my 2017 Tuscan a month shy of 2 years. Kept up with oil changes. No oil spots on the cement where I park. Had just had an oil change a few weeks prior in fact. I had loss of power. My car wouldnt accelerate so I took it to Bradford Towing in Haverhill Ma and they looked at it and even put in a camera to see the damage. A bearing in the engine blew a whole through a piston causing an oil leak and misfire. My engine is junk now. Key Hyundai of Salem Nh was contacted by Bradford Towing who confirmed it was a known issue and they had repaired over 80 vehicles in the year prior. My particular VIN hasnt been recalled but it should be. I could have been in an accident or worse. Hyundai wont help me because Im not the original owner and I didnt buy it certified.

2022-1-09 Left the house to run errands and noticed the car seemed sluggish when I stepped on the gas to accelerate. I'd actually felt like this may have been happening for some time but it is a "Sport" and it always felt a little funky when you accelerrated. It was blistery cold so my initial thought was I left too quickly and the vehicle maybe needed time to warm up. It felt like the engine didn't either seem to be shifting to a higher gear, or getting enough power to accelerate which was very concerning as this happened as I pulled out onto a busier road, yet couldn't accelerate. I made it to my first stop but called my husband to express concern something seems off with the vehicle. I told him I would likely skip my errands and come home for him to take a look. After my stop, I started the Tucson up to head home - and now the check engine light came on (solid)! Apparently flashing check engine is more serious? I was able to make the drive home to unload groceries but the whole ride home I couldn't accelerate properly so it was a scary drive home, I drove slowly on backroads and used my flashers to get home safely. We immediately called the Hyundai dealer near us which closed. Called four times the next am as we needed whatever was going on fixed quickly. Once the vehicle was at the dealer, we learned it had complete transmission failure. Thankfully it appears this is under warranty. It is STILL at the dealer as it needed to get an inspector to come out to confirm it was transmission failure (which has now been confirmed 10 days later).

While driving on the interstate, my Tuscon started flashing a yellow check engine light and lost power. I had previously had it in to question why it would jerk when just starting. Dealer found nothing. We were able to safely get to the safely to the side of the road. It was towed to a dealership. The dealership said I was going to need a new engine. We did put in a good will warranty claim which the company is currently working on needing pictures from all parts of the engine and the dealer is working with them.. The car is a 2017 and only 107,000 miles.

Engine started to misfire on PA turnpike, causing loss of power. Engine light came on. This was on a stretch of road with downhill s-curves at night. Car has been using a quart of oil every 500 or so miles. Turbo disintegrated at 100,000 miles, this current incident happened at 120.000 miles. I believe they are related. So far, Hyundai say that there is no compression in at least one cylinder and they have to disassemble engine to determine extent of problem. Engine codes stated multiple misfires in cylinders 2 and 4.

The vehicle loses power/decelerates during normal operation regardless of speed. The car does not indicate an error (check engine light) does not illuminate. The vehicle has been at the dealer under warranty since 10/3/2022 with numerous diagnostics performed. The service manager gave us an update; Began diagnosis Had drop in turbo when Acc ordered turbo on 10/7/22 Turbo came in on 10/25/22 installed 10/28 Still same issue but no drop in turbo now 11/4/22 exhaust was removed from cat back and road tested. 11/9/22 They have cleaned all grounds, and checked all connections at the ecm. Completed fuel sample inspection 11/14/22 fuel sample results came back no issue 11/18/22 began flight recording to see if any change between know good car, was unable to see any difference. 11/28/22 removing valve covers for engine inspection of cyclinder walls. Almost completed I shop, hoping to have it completed tomorrow. Let me know if you have any questions According the service manager engine inspection came back with no issues. Hyundai Corporation has been informed and a case was made on 12/28/2022
