The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate, the transmission failed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25-30 MPH, the vehicle was making an abnormal rattling and knocking sound that was coming from the engine while accelerating. The transmission was shaking continuously while driving at 10 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with camshaft and engine failure and needed a cam finish over an advanced timing system overhaul. The contact was informed that the camshaft, CVT, timing chain and tensioner, front valve cover and valve cover gasket, turbocharger, turbocharger gasket, and turbocharger lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle made an abnormal clacking sound. The vehicle was taken to an independent certified mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the catalytic converter had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic, where the catalytic converter repair was performed. The contact stated that after the repair, the contact noticed that the instrument panel would turn black and the infotainment system would become inoperable intermittently; however, both systems would reboot independently. Additionally, the vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where the air compressor was replaced due to heating system failure. The contact stated that the instrument panel failure recurred intermittently. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was overheating. The check engine warning light was illuminated and the message "Engine Overheating" was displayed. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with engine misfire. The mechanic determined that the head gasket failure had caused oil to contaminate the coolant reservoir. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact was topping off the oil weekly. The failure had become more persistent. While driving 65 MPH, the vehicle started shaking and was making a knocking sound at the front-end by the engine compartment. The check engine warning light was flashing. The contact coasted to the side of the road and checked the oil level. The oil level was low, and the contact added oil to the vehicle. The contact restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle began shaking, making a knocking sound from the front end, and there was white smoke coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle was turned off, the smoke ceased, and the vehicle was left parked in the parking lot at work. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Upon inspection of the engine compartment, the contact discovered that the oil level was low. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the contact was initially informed that the failure was normal with similar vehicles. The contact stated that the failure persisted, and the vehicle failed to start with the oil warning light illuminated. The contact checked the oil level, and the oil was full. The vehicle eventually started with the check engine and air bag warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

Upon inspection of the vehicle, the contact discovered that the oil level was low. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where a diagnostic test was performed, and the diagnostic test showed that the vehicle was consuming excessive amounts of engine oil. The contact was informed to bring the vehicle back to the dealer every 1,000 miles to track the oil consumption. The oil gasket, oil filter, and oil pan were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000

An oil consumption test from the mechanic was requested and the vehicle is to be checked after 1000 miles. Unfortunately, the oil only lasts approximately 400-600 miles before the engine starts knocking.
