Rosen Hyundai techs claim they can't duplicate problem. The problem is duplicated every time that I drive it, particularly when accelerating into a left turn.

I almost got into 2 accidents so I traded the car in for a 2018 Tucson. I liked the car, just not the engine! Same problem in the 2018, but it happens not as often

Our new Hyundai Tuscon has a problem with acceleration. It has hesitated on take off and will rev-up for several seconds before jerking forward. We also have a 2016 Tuscon that sounds like a impact wrench. When we took the 2017 in for service they said could not recreate the problem and had no heard of this problem before. We will keep taking it back until the fix it or we sue for a new car under the lemon law.

The transmission has been an issue since the day that I purchased the vehicle. Since I never owned a 4 cylinder vehicle I thought this was par for the course. The lag between 1-2-3 gears was more of a pain and I believed the dealership when it explained that the new transmission should be driven like I would a manual transmission. I have almost been rear-ended on almost a dozen occasions because the transmission does not engage. Thankfully I've owned many manual transmissions but this was not the solution but every Hyundai rep has been F.O.S. They keep saying that they can not replicate the issue but there are thousands of complaints online that they reference. Unfortunately, each automaker has very highly paid lawyers and actuaries that have not deemed the financial loss high enough to admit error and call for a recall.
I have noticed that issue is much worse when the temps get above 90 degrees. There is literally a 2-second delay in the transmission engaging between 1st and 2nd gear. Living in Las Vegas this is a massive problem.
I'm just waiting until the depreciation levels off and I can sell this death trap.

The transmission is terrible and a SAFETY HAZARD in a parking lot or on the freeway. I leased this car with the idea I would buy it at end of lease: NO WAY!
Right from the get go the transmission has not shifted properly and the dealer has NOT been able to fix it. The failure to shift properly can occur at 5 to 10 mph or at 30 to 50 mph. The problem is a delay in shifting upon acceleration, generally occurring after a short bit of coasting or lifting your foot from the throttle. When the pedal is depressed to accelerate the computer shifting software and engine speed software, in my guess, can not determine what gear to be in. As the pedal is depressed the car hesitates or a better description, does not accelerate, it does not down shift. When that happens, I press down the throttle pedal even more with no response from the engine, the car coasts (slows) for up to 2 to 3 seconds and in that time the throttle is now pressed, in many cases, all the way to the floor. When the car decides to accelerate, it takes of with full throttle.
This can happen while in a parking lot at 5 mph and needing to accelerate out of the way of parked car backing out. I keep stepping on the gas and then after reaching full throttle or close to it, the car takes off. You can imagine the fear and dirty looks from the person walking in the parking lot that you just went at, at full throttle. Luckily have not hit anyone. It can also happen on the freeway in heavy slowed traffic where I am trying to merge across several lanes to an exit where the lanes are moving at different speeds. A driver opens a spot or I move in to a spot in a faster lane step on the gas and nothing happens even when the throttle pedal reaches the floor and after bit it takes off at full throttle while the cars behind me are laying on their horn for creating a hazard.
I have raced extensively, built race cars, restored cars and manged more than one dealer service department. I have real trouble when the dealer can not fix it and when they tell me that is the way it is supposed to be. I am sure this issue has caused accidents. It has been described by others on line in different terms as well. Hyundai has a SAFETY ISSUE!

I took the car to the dealership and all they did was set it back to the factory spec. they said it is within spec that it has some hesitation in is automatic shifting through the 5 gears. Not buying that BS. It still shudders very bad after a couple hours of driving in traffic. Not as bad on a short trip so it seems that it becomes very bad after the transmission is heated up over driving time.
I drive part time for Lyft and I have had many riders ask about the shaking/shuddering and what it might be? One rider even thought I had a manual stick shift and couldn't drive to well?
Sorry to say... I'm convinced that unless someone is killed over it the dealers & Hyundai are only going to ignore this VERY OBVIOUS PROBLEM!!!

My 2017 Tuscon Night will sometimes shift like someone learning to drive a standard. From a stop, press the accelerator and it takes 305 seconds for the car to respond. When it does, it revs the rpm really high. It's a bit unsettling not being able to fully control what or how the car is going to respond when pressing on the accelerator. I sometimes experience the same issue when trying to accelerate onto the highway as well.
Does Hyundai know about this? Are they doing anything about this?

I purchased a 2017 Hyundai Tucson about 10 months ago and I am experiencing the same issues as others have reported with the transmission hesitating. There have been a few times now where I have narrowly missed getting into accidents because of the transmission hesitating and its now become a real concern for me. I have contacted Hyundai about the issue and encourage others to do so also.
One rep at the dealership has already told me that "“it just sounds like how the DCT is suppose to workâ€, but I have owned many cars, including a 2016 Hyundai Veloster that I traded in for this car, and I have never experienced these issues. Also, judging by the numerous other complaints for this issue, it seems as if others agree as well that this is NOT normal and that it is NOT an excuse for these issues.

Have had 2 Tucson's prior to this one. Bringing it in tomorrow for an oil change and inspection. Service department told me there was a recall for an inhibitor switch. What I am reading from others with this same problem, it seems that Hyundai is going to give me a problem and a song and dance to correct the problem. Guess I will have to go in there full of fire and brimstone. Not going to take any crap from them...rolling my sleeves up...

Told dealer at 5000 miles of transmission hesitation and lurching. Dealer stated part of "break-in process".
Returned for 11000 mile service and again complained of hesitation and lurching at acceleration from stop or at low speeds (less than 1-15 miles per hour. ie.shopping centers, school zones, etc.) I was told that NO computer faults were found and this is 'normal' for a dual disc transmission. "nothing can be done".
This is a SAFETY ISSUE !!!!!!

This transmission hesitation is a major issue!! I was almost in an accident with a semi truck as a result of it. I called consumer affairs and reported it. They gave me a claim number and are supposed to get back to me within 5 days. I urge all of you that have had the same issue to do the same. The number is 1-800-633-5151. Let's get these pieces of crap off the road before someone gets killed!!

JUST BOUGHT THE SUV UNDER 8 WEEKS AGO. NOVEMBER 14, 2017 AT 3:50PM I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY HEADING TO WORK. I WAS DRIVING FOR ABOUT 15 MIN, I WENT TO OVER TAKE A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I HAD NO POWER. THE SUV WOULDN'T ACCELERATE PAST 50KM, IT WOULD JUST REV. IT FELT LIKE I HAD PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. I CHECKED AND THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. I TRIED PUTTING IT IN MANUAL SHIFT MODE TO SEE IF I COULD GET THE GEARS TO ENGAGE, NO LUCK. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET OFF THE HIGHWAY....
I NOTIFIED MY DEALERSHIP OF THE PROBLEM AND MANAGED TO GET THE CAR THERE AT A SNAILS PACE. THE SHOCKING THING HERE, THE FOLLOWING DAY THEY CALLED ME TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE STATING THEY CAN NOT MAKE THE PROBLEM RE HAPPEN AND THEY HAVE NO CODE.
I ABSOLUTELY REFUSED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE FOR SAFETY CONCERNS AND I EXPRESSED THAT AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM IS STILL A PROBLEM AND A SAFETY ISSUE. I SHOWED THEM A YOUTUBE VIDEO OF THE PROBLEM AND I COULD TELL BY THE REACTION THIS WAS NEWS TO THEM, WHICH IN ITSELF IS SURPRISING SINCE WHAT I HAVE DESCRIBED HERE IS WELL DOCUMENTED ON THE INTERNET BY OTHER HYUNDAI CUSTOMERS.
I HAVE NOTIFIED HYUNDAI CANADA OF THE ISSUE WHICH THEY HAVE OPENED UP A CASE FILE TO SEE IF THE 2017 MODEL YEAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN A RECALL
WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS.
Update from Feb 14, 2018: Feb 14 the Suv has been at the dealer 3 more times since i posted, they changed a sensor they claim the last visit with the check engine light on, now they claim they can't recreate the problem..i will update

This is an issue that Hyundai was sued for in 2016. Their dual transmission was faulty. This problem was supposed to be fixed in 2016. I have a 2017. I have taken it into my dealership 3 times now and each time they say that there is nothing wrong with my car. I am not the only one to experience this in my car. The service guy told me I imagined it or I was trying to get a new car out of it. I love my car but when I'm on the freeway and I have my foot all the way down on the gas petal and it loses acceleration that scares me and I do not have an over active imagination. I also do not want a new car I want my car to work correctly. I have previously owned a Hyundai and I loved that car, I had it for 10 years and never had any problems with it. My dealerships name is Stew Hansen Hyundai in Clive, IA. I was never told about this issue or the lawsuit. I just want my Tucson to work correctly especially when it starts to snow.
