We purchased our 2019 Hyundai Tucson in North Little Rock, AR and the car was okay for 2 days, and then it started acting weird. The car did not want to accelerate properly, it would stall at times at stop lights and signs. On the Highway it would lose speed and we would have to hit the gas to make it speed up. It was taken to the dealership and was told nothing was wrong with it, that this was part of the safety features and it was ok to drive. After 4 days the problems became worse and I felt unsafe driving this vehicle as I have a disabled child that I drive to and from school everyday and travel with.
I returned my Tucson and now looking for a new, better, safer vehicle. These vehicles have problems that need to be addressed, not just mine, but all of Hyundai's vehicles because there is a big issue with the way these vehicles are being made and the way the dealerships are handling the seriousness of the customers safety and well being in their products. It's sad to say, but it's going to take someone getting hurt or God forbid killed for them to get it together.

I reported the problem of constant hesitation under acceleration on this 2019 Hyundai Tucson Sport in the past. The other day, I pulled out from an intersection and the car decided to hesitate as it does so many other times. I had to "floor" the car to get it to move after a brief two second "stall". The tach then jumped up to 4,000 rpm's and the car took off. This has been ongoing since we bought the car in May of 2019. I now have 9000 miles on it. I have been in contact with dealer but they say they do not have a fix yet. That is crazy.
This is a huge safety factor and I have been in several near misses due to the lag in acceleration. I would not recommend anyone buying this model until Hyundai comes out with a fix. The only thing that helps this is to drive it in manual mode. Sport mode works a little better, but the hesitation continues to exist. Totally unacceptable for a new vehicle. Thank you.

We bought this car new in May of 2019. It is a 2019 Hyundai Tucson Sport. We love the car except for one major problem. There are times we try to accelerate and the car just suddenly "hesitates" for approximately 2 seconds. Even though I am trying to get the car moving, it will not respond. This seems to be way worse from a dead stop or while turning at a low speed. It is almost like the engine turns off. There is absolutely no engine power for these 2 seconds or so, and then suddenly the car will "jerk" forward and accelerate.
We took the car in for a software update. This actually seemed to have made the car worse. I have called several dealers service departments about the issue and they all basically say that they are aware of the issue but they do not have a fix. I am going to take the car in anyway, as I now have 8900 miles on it, and it only seems to get worse. There are numerous complaints from other owners that their cars are doing the exact same thing. This is very dangerous as I have barely avoided several crashes by the car refusing to respond as I try to accelerate. This occurs in both regular and sport driving mode. The only way to avoid this issue is to drive the car in manual mode. This appears to fix the problem 80 percent of the time.
Someone is going to get seriously injured or worse, and I would venture to say unfortunately it has already probably happened. This makes the car unsafe, unreliable and I am at a loss what to do. I will start taking it to the dealer once a week if I have to until they fix it or come up with some other resolution. We love the car but I can't continue to put our safety at risk driving this dangerous vehicle. Such a shame for a new Hyundai vehicle. We have owned a Hyundai or Kia for years and had no issues. Whatever they changed on this model they should seriously consider changing back. This is very dangerous and I am surprised NHTSA has not forced a recall on all of these.

Acceleration after 25mph uphill limited even with pedal to the floor. Hyundai said don't drive it have it towed in and we'll look at it in a week or so. Hyundai has no loner program. I bought the car in May 2019 and it has only 6800 miles on it. We'll see how soon it gets fixed and if the fix holds.

This problem has been documented since 2005, but Hyundai has refused to address it. I don't expect anything less.

I have a 2019 Hyundai Tucson that is now experiencing acceleration issues. I have 17,000 miles on this car just purchased new June 2019. Recently we are driving down the highway and for no apparent reason the car decided to start decelerating even with the gas pedal pressed all the way to the ground. We ended up having to pull over and turn the engine off and started up again and it started just fine and the rest of that day we did not see any other issues.
A few days later we were driving down one of the main streets in our town. When we were at a stop light, we started to accelerate when the light turned green only to realize the car was not accelerating again we press the pedal all the way to the floor and finally after a couple seconds the car wrapped up very high past 200 rpm’s and very aggressively accelerated to speed. This happened three times in the past week.
I contacted the dealer he said they can not get my car into 10 to 15 days because they’re too busy. They don’t know what is going on with the car that it is something that they have not seen. However, as I started to do some research it is very apparent that there is a major problem with the failure to accelerate in the Hyundai Tucson. In 2016 at a major recall on the Hyundai Tucson for failure to accelerate. My question is then why is this problem not been corrected and why are these cars still on the street if they cannot correct the problem.
This is a question I will be asking my dealer when I go to drop it off on 13 February and until then praying that nothing happens to me while I drive this car as it is my only source of transportation. Finally, how do we get a class action lawsuit started for all of us that are having this issue?
