The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that after placing the vehicle in park(P) and exiting the vehicle, the vehicle inadvertently rolled backwards. The contact stated that the vehicle was equipped with Automatic Emergency Braking; however, the system failed to activate, resulting in damage to the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 22,000.
