Tucson SEL 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,610 miles

On July 2nd 2025, wife was driving her 2023 Tucson SEL. All of a sudden, the motor just turned off. All the dash light came on, but she had no pedal. This happened so sudden that the vehicle behind her almost rear ended her. She pulled over and initially the vehicle would not start. After about 10 minutes of trying the vehicle started, but had no acceleration. She pushed the pedal to the floor and could only get a max of 10 mph. Parked the vehicle and called me, her husband, to come check it out. Upon arrival, it did start and appeared to run with a little stutter. Connected my XTool diganostic tool and found a P0087F0 code in the ecm. Took the vehicle for a run and it continued to have a slight stutter, but ran OK.

Took the vehicle to the dealer and of course the code was no longer in the system and did not exhibit any symptoms. Service believes it is related to Fuel injectors or pump, they are fully aware of the major issue with the factory injectors, but because the code disappeared and the vehicle is not exhibiting the issue, there is nothing they can do. Hyundai corp will not honor warranty. I have no issue with the service team as I fully understand where they are and that they want to address the issue.

The issue is with Hyundai and their lack of customer care. I have have had other battles with Hyundai corp in the past due to experiencing the dreaded 2.4L Theta engine failure and an Elantra that would jump out of park. In both cases, Hyundai refused to address the issues
