Our teen daughter drives a 2012 Veloster that has an OPEN recall that Hyundai has no solution or fix for. Today, her car started to have a burning smell inside the vehicle that is linked to this issue. Hyundai needs to fix this NOW or buy this car back from us immediately. This is recall 23V651000. I need a car that works and is not a safety hazard!

Currently there are two recalls on the 2012 Veloster. I took our car in yesterday to Woodhouse Hyundai in Omaha, NE to fix the recall 242. However, they said they "diagnosed" it first and would order the part. This is an urgent fix and they don't have the parts on hand to fix it right away"? Also, the newer recall 251...how long until that has a solution to fix it? Both are extremely dangerous and they aren't fixing them? What is the solution, then to ensure the safety of my teen driver who uses this vehicle" This is unreal.

While driving on I-85 near Atlanta, GA on 12/16/2022 at approximately 5:30 pm the sunroof exploded. The sunroof cover was closed so there was not an injury due to the shattering glass.

On 08/17/2022, we had to have the car towed to the dealer for a very concerning issue. My son was driving down a major highway (middle lane) and as he attempted to accelerate, the car was not responding. It was like the car went into neutral and the rpms went up, but there was absolutely no acceleration. It was scary as he had traffic all around him and needed to get over to the breakdown lane. He finally got over and the car would not move forward or reverse. The check engine light also came on, so we had the car towed once again to the dealer. Once there, they looked it over and said it needed a new MAP SENSOR. They also stated that they thought the problem was with the DCT CONTROL MODULE. They said that they needed to do a RETEST of the DCT CONTROL MODULE and followed through with that. When I went to pick up the vehicle, I was told that the car was working properly, but they couldn-??t be sure that it wouldn-??t happen again. If the same thing happened again then they would need to replace the DCT CONTROL MODULE. After paying $800 to have my car fixed, I didn-??t feel very hopeful. It makes you pretty anxious to drive a car that just loses power out of nowhere. Under normal conditions, losing acceleration on a major highway could severely affect the driver-??s ability to control the vehicle and maintain a safe speed in traffic. This could cause a major accident. Here we go again. On 09/23/2022, my son was driving down the highway when he suddenly lost power again. The same scenario played out once again, only this time he didn-??t have much room to pull over. He was forced to pull over in an accident-prone area of 77 South with a cement barrier next to him. Soon, he saw police lights behind him. The police officer was very concerned with getting the car towed quickly and showed my son the skid marks on the pavement from a previous accident. Now the dealer is saying its the transmission and transmission control module. This car is very unsafe to drive.

Car stalls out while driving. It happens randomly while on highways, going up or downhill, & while making turns. No warning light or sensors go off. It just shuts off and it is extremely dangerous. I-??ve taken it to a Hyundai dealership on three different occasions. The first time they claimed it was due to carbon build up in the throttle body. So they cleaned it out and said it should be fine. I took it back two times after that for the same issue and was told because they can-??t duplicate the problem there is nothing they can do. I have almost been in 3 accidents because of this. I have also discovered this is 1 of the too 3 problems that have been reported by hyundai veloster owners. Most people have been given no solution! That is totally unacceptable as this issue is to hazardous to ignore.

Air conditioning connecter/wire I burnt/burning making me feel uneasy and have a fear of vehicle catching on fire There were no warning lights or messages that notified. Found out by smell of burning plastic Hyundai dealership inspected but did not think it was a huge issue and notified me to just keep caution of burning smell (?)

Daughter almost was hit because car slipped out of drive while she was on the highway. Car is giving codes for crankshaft position sensor. I looked on YouTube and this problem seems very common. Why is car not going into gear because of these codes? Very dangerous.

While driving on the highway today, my sunroof shattered, spreading glass everywhere. Had the cloth lining not been over the sunroof, the glass would have rained onto the driver while driving at highway speeds. The vehicle and part have not yet been inspected and no warning lamps were present.

Check engine light is blinking. Car is less than one year old. 108,000 miles. I put 8,000 on it. Car lights go out after replacing, steering column, electrical issues, oil in spark plugs, fuel line seems clogged, emergency brake doesn't hold every time, ect taking to Hyundai in the morning. Dangerous.

I heard something drop and then the car started smoking. I pulled to the side of the highway, turned off the car, and went to open the hood, but saw flames. The entire front half was engulfed in flames. A couple years ago I had to get an engine replacement due to oil over consumption. The same issues started happening again and the dealership was not helpful with getting the situation figured out.

Trunk door won't stay up. Head and neck hit by door a couple times when getting groceries from the trunk. Clicking noise in the steering wheel when turning/driving.

This cars engine just shuts off when driving, it will not go into gear even though it says it's in drive etc. My husband parked the car in our flat driveway and the car went forward crushing him against the house. I pulled the car backwards even though it was it said it was in park to free him. Contacted Hyundai corporate and they said they were not responsible. Will be contacted a lawyer because this was caught on video from my ring doorbell. This happens all the time where it will not go into gear and you have to shut the car off and on 3xs before it will go into gear. Hyundai dealer says they can't duplicate the problem.

Complete car fire. I was driving on the free way going between 70 and 75mph and I went to change lanes and when I looked back in the rearview mirror all I see is smoke so I pull off the freeway onto the shoulder and I see a flame from under the hood. So I pop the hood latch and I open it and there was a fire coming from the engine compartment. So I shut the hood and go and grab necessities out from the vehicle and wait for the fire department to show up and put out the car. Well when they showed up, they were not able to salvage any usable part of the vehicle. Again I was on the freeway/highway traveling between 70mph and 75 mph

On February 22, 2019 at 6:51pm I went to my car to retrieve some personal belongings and noticed that my sunroof had completely shattered. By the grace of god I was not driving my car nor did I have any children in the car. Hyundai has had my car sense this incident occurred and are saying that they are not going to be paying for the sunroof to be fixed. This is just absolutely ridiculous on their end. This is peoples lives that are at state while in this car. Upon further investigation I have found over 8 complaints about the same thing with the sunroof and even an article where a family had the sunroof shatter on them as well and Hyundai just settled out of court with them on January 21,2019. Hyundai should be responsible for any damages like these and all car dealerships need to take these cars off their property. Someone could be severly hurt or even die due to things like this. None of this okay. I do not feel safe getting back into this car even if the sunroof was fixed.

I own a 2012 Hyundai Veloster twd. My sunroof just exploded out of no-where and I called Hyundai and they told me that there is no recall on this issue. In addition, I need to replace a steering bushing and it is not covered in any recall and I am reading on the internet that this item has been repaired. Great car, but no accountability by this organization to fix their engineers issues.

My 2012 Hyundai velostor had a sunroof recall and was inspected in late 2014 at the dealer. Nothing was noted at the time. On April 17 2018, the sunroof exploding while driving on the freeway, casting shattered glasses on the freeway and damaged the vehicle behind. Shattered glasses also rained on top of me. Luckily my child was not in the car at the time. I brought it to the dealer for the warranty repair and they denied due to pass the 60K warranty. I was shocked and angered. I have the vehicle for 6.5 yrs and the service agent said its an old car and out of warranty. How irresponsibly Hyundai is on protecting the consumers and drivers on the road. This is unacceptable!
