This is the original time my heating unit had to be replaced, I will being another complaint because it started to go out again in 2019 within warranty, but because I had a friend install it I wasn't covered. Which is BS, because it's expensive to get replaced at a dealership. My car smelled of something burning and I couldn't figure it out, then I slowly started losing my 1 and 2 on the dial. Then a few months later my 3 went and I was only left with level 4. In the coldest time of the year in WI, my heater went completely out! I froze my butt off, not to mention my windshield was no peach to see out of when it snowed.
I didn't have all the money the dealership wanted to fix it so I froze until I found a guy at work that knew how to change it out. Luckily I work at an engineering facility and he said it's pretty easy to switch out, but this is engineered wrong. That they way it is melted looks like on level 4 the unit can't handle the output and starts to heat up and melting the unit. As you can see by the pictures, oh, it melted. I bought him sushi for his time so that was but now here I sit with my car smelling like it is going to start on fire and no heat. That will be in my next complaint, thought I would log this one first.
