WORKED WITH LOCAL DEALER WHO PERFORMED THE HYUNDAI RECOMMENDED "OIL CONSUPTION WORKSHEET TEST" - WHICH TOOK 30 DAYS TO COMPLETE (5 TRIPS TO DEALER). WE FOUND THAT THE ENGINE CONSUMED ONE (1) QUART OF OIL EVERY 260 MILES AND HAS EMITTED BLACK SMOKE FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS.

THE DEALER SUGGESTS RUNNING ANOTHER 1,000 MILES BEFORE HYUNDAI WILL TAKE ACTION - WHATEVER THAT MEANS? CONCERNED THAT THE ENGINE MAY LOCK-UP IF WE WAIT THAT LONG.

ANY SUGGESTIONS HOW TO HANDLE THIS MATTER?

Veloster RE:MIX

  • Manual transmission
  • 105,000 miles

Car was losing oil pretty rapidly. Was having to put a quart of oil in every 2-3 weeks but wasn't seeing any fluid on the ground, and couldn't smell any oil burning. Took to the dealer and they said the valve cover gasket was leaking, and the oil pan gasket was seeping a bit. They replaced the gasket and put rtv sealant around the oil pan. Everything was covered under my warranty with Omega Auto Care.
