About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
My steering is sticking when going down the road like a magnet is holding it in place witch makes it hard to stay in the lane. L have also notice that my interior lights would get bright and dim on their own at times. I also have my headlights shut off while driving.

Back up camera is flickering when car is put in reverse, camera goes black at times.this car has less than 40,000 miles on it. The camera shouldn't be going bad.

When driving the car during day or night the headlights will cut off and they will also flicker on and off, this has been happening for the last 3 months. The stereo also won't cut on when I cut my car on I have to open to passenger side door for it to come on.

The ac/heater blower motor controller in this vehicle and every model that shares the same style knob has a serious defect. Along with the fire hazard this presents it also effects the use of defrost which can be a serious issue in some climates and the switch may fail completely rendering the defrost functionally unusable. Attached you will see images of the inside and outside of the switch in question as well as the connector for the switch which have suffered serious heat damage. This is a fire hazard. Hyundai chose to use the switch itself as the current passing conductor instead of a relay as used by most manufacturers. This decision is clearly reflected as a negligent one with regards to the structure of the switch and incorrect gauge of the wiring used for said switch. With normal use in any position on the dial, this issue will cause the wiring of the connector, and the insides of the switch to overheat. This is not a matter of functionality, this is a matter of safety. With these low gauge wires being used for this it poses a serious risk of fire. Please see the attached photos for evidence of the switch and connector deformation caused by overheating. Please bare in mind that the switch components and connector appear to be made of PA6, a glass fiber reinforced nylon which is intended to stand up to a great deal of heat. Additionally the wire wrap (pictured below) meant to protect the wiring on this connector from rattling is made of a cloth/composite material, with the ability to melt and catch fire. This issue is a constant being down to the wiring. In motion, stationary, or otherwise has no bearing so long as the climate controls are being used. Thank you for your time.

My ac knob has melted and it is because a short within the knob itself

The aca controller knob gets extremely hot, the inside has melted and no longer works so the ac and or heat does not blow out of the vents,

I haven't had many troubles with steering like others have however I have had problems where the car doesn't immediately go into gear. I can start the car and it takes up to a minute to go into gear and every once in awhile I have that problem when switching over neutral (ie. Going from park or reverse to drive or vice versa) another problem I'm having troubles with is the electronics. When I go to back up the rear camera appears for 1 or 2 seconds then goes to the radio. Its nearly an everyday thing. Sometime the radio, discs, or media player will play music but will be silenced and I have to change the mode and switch it back before it will play. Has nothing to do with the volume I have tried that. Also recently my clock has started to reset every time I turn the car on. It resets to 11:10. Everything except the clock has been happening for months and I cant get anything done unless I pay. Which I refuse because it shouldn't be my problem.

I purchased my 2014 Veloster turbo right off of the showroom floor. When I was driving home, 90 miles from the dealership, I noticed it was really hard to keep my car straight in the road. I physically have to force my car to stay straight on the straightest highways. I took it to the dealership the next day and it was found to be out of alignment. They aligned it, only to experience the same issue driving back home. I have now had my vehicle in to 3 different Hyundai dealerships and have records of the adjustments. It is still not aligned making it very difficult to drive safely. At 5K miles we were driving on a road trip and had been driving all day. We were getting back on the interstate and my check engine light started flashing and my car started slowing down even though I was trying to accelerate. It cleared up and I drove a few more miles when it acted up again, this at 65 mph. Same issues flashing lights, slowing from 65 to 30 as my car felt it was not getting any power. I was able to report it to my bluelink, although it did not show on their end. This has been checked several times by Hyundai, although they are not able to detect or duplicate the issue. It continues to happen to me. I am to the point where I am frightened to drive it anymore. Not only for my safety but for others as well. I have a total of 7 service records with no answers except, if it happens again come right in and hopefully the computer will tell us. The alignment was done 5 times and took in 6, although it is still all over the road. The answer I get for the alignment now is, " customer may also not be used to electronic steering system". I am a 43 year old man that has been driving for almost 30 years. I have another vehicle with electronic steering that drives straight on the same roads. Thanks for your time...
