The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45-?"55 MPH, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to pull over, looked under the hood, and notice that an unknown fluid was boiling. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who informed her about unknown recalls. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the radiator was empty. The vehicle was not repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V746000 (Engine) due to owner neglect. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH a loud booming sound from the engine compartment had occurred and a knocking noise followed along with white smoke from the exhaust pipes. The vehicle drove off the road before flames were present coming from under the hood. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the flames. A police report was taken and the vehicle was towed away. No injuries were reported. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet contacted. The contact indicated that the vehicle had previously been serviced several times for a faulty engine and catalytic converter. The failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle a clicking noise was present coming from the engine and the vehicle had stalled. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who performed and serviced unknown repairs along with an oil change. Approximately two weeks later the vehicle stalled and upon inspection, it was discovered that oil had leaked from the engine and a service warning indicating the catalytic converter was faulty had displayed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 55,000.
