Veloster 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

I got a Veloster 2017 1.6l a year ago. It was ~74k, now it's a ~80k. Used for commuting, changed oil recently. In Jul 2022 - a catalytic converter issue code, then knock sensor code comes on and it's falling into "limping" mode. Looks like the known engine issue... And sounds too.

Contacted dealership on 7/27, and was told that it's still on Hyundai's warranty (150K). Scheduled appointment on Sep 14 (1.5 months in 'limping' mode!).

Dropped the car on Sep 14th. Call them weekly just to listen to the music and (if I'm lucky) to be told that they are "talking to Hyundai to get approval", "technicians shortage", "no rental before approval", "no ETA". It's supposed to be the engine replacement and this is what they told me (although it has not been confirmed by Hyundai yet).

1.5 months - with knocking engine, ready to a complete failure. +3 weeks (and counting) without a car at all. No idea how it ends. And when.
