Veracruz Limited

  • Automatic transmission
  • 62,000 miles

I also have a 2008 Veracruz that feels like my brake pedal is grinding and pulsating at speeds less than 20 mph. This has been going on since we bought the car used with 20000 miles on it. The dealer says I need new rotors and pads because my rotors are out of round. The pads have 50% wear in the front and 20% in the rear. The funny thing is the grinding and pulsating are only after the car has been shut off, restarted and coming to a stop while at low speed or trolling for a parking space in a parking lot.

I told the dealer that I think the problem is low vacuum in the power brake booster, they think I am crazy. I have 50 years of experience working on cars and have never heard of rotors causing this issue.

There is a similar complaint already listed. The brakes grind randomly and kick back towards my foot, and I have to re-brake. Then, behaves normally. I have had the brakes and rotors checked and have been told they are fine. It's very scary when it happens. I bought the car used, and it is no longer under warranty. I love the Veracruz model and often wondered why I hadn't heard more about it. I think I may have the answer. It seems they (at least the 2008 model) has a lot of quirks. Based on the other post I've read about this issue, I have no idea how it can be fixed.
