I purchased a 2008 Hyundai Veracruz in 2014. I was taking a friend home and as I was pulling in all lights lit up and car just shuts off. I couldn't get the car to do anything. I had the car towed. My windshield wipers doesn't work, door handles are all broken, seat belts doesn't work, alternator has been change 3 times due to oil leakage, no radio, the RPM's goes up and down and trunk won't open.

The headlights flash off and back on when using the turn signals while the vehicle is moving. Very scary. Others have reported this problem with Hyundai vehicles. Solution seems to be replacing headlight switch (control stalk).

When I use my turn signal to signal lane changing, but do not snap it into position, my headlights will flicker on and off and will also turn off for several seconds. Additionally, I noticed during the day time that my dash board lights were brightening. I've reported the dashboard lights brightening on several occasions to the dealership while my car was in for service from 2009 to the present, but they weren't able to repeat the problem. Most recently, likely because I was driving at night, I noticed my headlights flickering on and off. I called the dealership to report it as it was happening and talked to the service representative and told him that my headlights just went off and then they came back on. I brought it in the following week. I found the same issue reported by many other people on a Hyundai forum. Several people reported that the issue was with the turn signal stalk and replacing it fixed the issue. I shared this information with the Hyundai dealership. This is a very concerning problem, as I go for seconds at a time with no headlights at random times, but always after using my turn signal.

Battery warning light on, seat belt light flashing. Had to turn off all electrical components (ac, fan, radio, lights, ...) and rushed to the dealership. Replaced the alternator at the dealership, where I was told there's a design flaw with oil dripping on the alternator and causing premature failure. I believe such a failure, which would've disabled the car, is definitely a safety hazard under not-so-uncommon conditions, such as at night, in a remote area or unsafe neighborhood. From online research, it will happen again with the replaced alternator since the root cause is not addressed, when in most other cars, the alternator would still be the original.

High & low beam headlights can't be adjusted separately. My low beams are ok however the high beams shoot up way to high. (I could use them for bird hunting). I am a police officer there has to be something done about this problem. I noted that is already is a complain about the headlights with NHTSA. The dealership advised they can't adjust the high beams down or it will affect the low beam.

The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Veracruz. The low beam headlights are too low and do not illuminate the street, which cause hazardous driving conditions at night. When the contact activates the bright headlights, they do not illuminate the road, but shine upwards instead. He spoke to the dealer numerous times and they stated that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. They stated that the lights were issued to Hyundai's standards and requirements. The current and failure mileages were 14,000. Updated 09/16/08. The high and low beams were connected and they could not be adjusted separately. The low beams were too low and the headlights were too high. Update 09/18/08
