The contact owns a 2001 Hyundai XG300. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted and driven cautiously on the shoulder. In addition, there was an unexpected acceleration and unknown electrical issues. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician was unable to detect a trouble code. The contact stated that the alternator had been previously replaced by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000....updated 12-24-13

When the vehicle accelerated into passing gear the vehicle completely shuts down. After about 15 minutes the car will start back up. The check engine light is displayed after the vehicle stalls. The problem has been corrected twice in the span of a two or three year period. The service department said it was a computer chip that controls the acceleration.
