XG350 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

When I bought this car it only had 48,000 miles on it and it was in great shape I could not understand why someone would let such a beautiful car go( i got a great deal on it).

After my first refueling stop I had my possible answer. The tank accepts fuel so slowly that you cannot set the nozzle trigger lever low enough to let it refuel hands free.

you have to stand there and hold the trigger so that the gas just trickles into the tank, otherwise it trips the automatic stop.

Obviously, this means you will take forever to refill at a station where you are not allowed to pump your own gas as the attendant will have to set the nozzle and run off to service another vehicle and when he leaves, the hose shuts off after a few seconds and you have to wait for him to come back and turn it back on.

After restarting the pump a few times the attendant is starting to get irritated and is in no hurry to get back and do it again. Then you have to let them see your fuel gauge to prove that your tank really is not full.

This problem can be quite embarrassing after awhile.

Now I have moved to Alaska where you can pump your own gas and am considering getting my car up here from Oregon. I love my car and hate the idea of having to sell it but can you imagine standing there in -40 degrees f. holding on to a metal gas nozzle and trickling gas into your tank?

I grew up in Alaska and I am here to tell you that even the best of gloves will not shield your hands from that kind of temperature if you are stupid enough to stand there holding on to a piece of metal with sub-zero fuel flowing through it.

A fix for this problem would be greatly appreciated!
