My spouse is active duty military. We bought this car secondhand while stationed in Germany. We thought it was an awesome deal. The car had less than 50k miles and looked brand new. We had no idea of the melting dashboard issues, because honestly we had never dreamed we would be able to afford an Infiniti, so it just never occurred to us that a luxury car line would knowingly sell cars with defective dashboards. Also, you just expect them fix things like that if it does happen. Anyway, the car was fine until we got back to the U.S. That first summer of in Virginia the melting and bubbling started. We took it to the local Infiniti dealership for its annual check and asked what the bubbling was, it was just Avery small area at that time, the acted like he didn’t know what it was. Ok. Two months later the bubbling had spread exponentially, that’s when I started looking for answers on the internet. I talked to the dealership again, they said it would cost 3-4K to fix, and suggested I contact the head office to see if they might cover any of the cost. I will say, at this point, the dealership manager was very nice and felt bad he couldn’t just replace it for me at no cost. So I took his advice and called the Infiniti main headquarters. It was like talking to a rich, snooty, automaton. The person was totally dismissive repeating over and over that Infiniti was not liable for my complaint. My concerns didn’t matter, our circumstances didn’t matter, WE didn’t matter to these people. I will NEVER BUY Nissan or Infiniti again....period. Once we save enough to fix the dash, and we will fix it properly because we have integrity, we’ll be selling or trading this car. I have never felt so talked DOWN to as I did when I called this company. Right now we hoping we can fix it before our next deployment and be done with it and them FOREVER.

More than 2 yrs ago the dash board on my 2008 Infinity FX35 in a very short time frame started bubble up. I have since gone to the dealer for another recall and at that time explained and showed the agent the horrific dashboard. He just said that it cost some $2600.00 for the repair because my model was not under the recall....... I am at a loss for what to do next.......

My dash board is melting and bubbling. I have an 08 Infiniti fx35 , when I turn on the air or heat there’s a toxic smell that comes from the vents due to the melting dashboard. It’s ugly and embarrassing. I refuse to drive passengers in my car because of this problem. Not a good experience buying an Infiniti …
