The failure of the Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL) has been known by Nissan/Infiniti for YEARS. Nissan had a special warranty extension program to "fix" (bypass) the problem - ended in 2015. Nissan even admits on their web site this was a part design flaw that has been corrected. But, INFINITI HAS DONE NOTHING - they don't even acknowledge that there is a problem.

So, we have a supposedly luxury, high end, customer focused manufacturer who totally ignores this issue. We have a local dealer who sold the car with a KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART and when approached by an owner where the part has failed, WILL DO NOTHING and ASSUMES NO PART in the problem.

Hardly a glowing recommendation for Infiniti or the local dealer. Will definitely go to a different dealer and likely to go to a different manufacturer from now on.

Drove on business trip back home approximately 340 miles & stopped several miles from home. When returning to vehicle it did not start and thought it was the Keyfob, when returned to home retrieved the other keyfob & did not work either. Reviewed information on internet with Nissan vehicles, and narrowed it down to steering control unit. Returned back to vehicle with a hammer & tapped on the steering control unit and started the vehicle and drove to local mechanic. Awaiting resulting repair determination.

On 3/25/16 my Infiniti G37 suddenly stopped working while I was running errands before work. I tried to start my car and nothing happen while the Intelligent Key Light sensor flashed red on the dash. Since I was done all preventive service on the vehicle, I was very surprised that this was happening.

While waiting for a tow truck to come get my vehicle, I Googled the issue and found that this is a very common issue among 2009-2011 G37�s. The steering lock motor on these models is well known for being defective. In fact, there were thousands of people stating that this same issue had happened to them. While Nissan has issued a recall for the part on their vehicles, Infiniti has done nothing to resolve this well-known issue.

When I decided to purchase an Infiniti, it was largely in part due to the good reputation of the company. I am extremely disappointed that you are losing your good reputation by not recalling parts that are commonly known to be faulty. This will certainly my opinion of Infiniti and the numerous others who know what happen with my vehicle.
