cracked fuel tank cracked fuel tank cracked fuel tank

I agree Isuzu should cover this issue considering it seems to run across several GMC cars that are the same as the Ascender. This was a faulty part . GMC did a recall.

problem #1

Sep 012009

Ascender 4.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

The Isuzu Ascender is the same body as the Chevy or GM Envoy or Trailblazer. There has been a recall issued for the same part on the 7 passenger body styles, however, not on the 5 passenger body. Same problem. Doesn't seem like a coincidence to me. There have been multiple reports of this expensive issue and after dealing with Isuzu directly, I have been told that there is nothing we can do. Basically, we are out a grand, or until they finally recall the 5 passenger and we can be reimbursed...because it seems likely that this will occur. The issue is that the fuel filler neck was ultrasonically welded to the tank. The seam does not hold and vehicle owners are reporting fuel leaks at 50-80,000 miles. So not only have we been spilling expensive gas onto the ground for who knows how long, but now we must pay to repair a manufacturer error. Definitely not happy.
