The contact owns a 2002 Isuzu Axiom. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds or when the vehicle was shifted into reverse, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and the rpms increased while the contact applied the brakes. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who replaced the spark plugs and cylinders. The failure continued. The failure mileage was 48,000 and the current mileage was 50,000. Updated 3/22/11 the consumer stated the vehicle would lurch forward or backward several feet, until the RPM's decreased as the brake was applied. Also, the check engine light illuminated, due to a problem with the spark plugs. Updated 04/27/11

The contact owns a 2003 Isuzu Axiom. While depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerates. The contact has to apply more pressure to the brake pedal in order for the vehicle to come to a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to a dealer once, but they could not duplicate the failure. The current mileage was 65,000 and failure mileage was 8,000. Updated 05/06/08. The consumer stated the failure happened when braking to a stop. As the consumer was about to stop, the engine revved. The consumer crashed into a parked vehicle. Updated 05/06/08.

While driving at low speeds, the vehicle jerked. The consumer applied the brakes, but the vehicle accelerated uncontrollably. The consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle and drove it to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the problem.

Brake pedal vibrated when depressed while going down an incline. When this occurred vehicle lurched forward. This resulted in loss of control of vehicle, almost causing an accident. Dealership ran a diagnostic test but no failure code was found.

Vehicle accelerated to 90 miles and did not stop with brakes or on neutral, had to be put on park to stop it. It happened twice at 6,000 miles and 13,000 miles.
