About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
In December 2002, I had the ABS module replaced due to the unit 'being fried' according to the mechanic. One year later, the ABS warning light illuminated and there is sporatic braking slippage especially braking down hill. Unfortunately, the dealer indicated that there is a $100 diagnostic test that needs to be done to identify the problem before looking at anything. After diagnostic test, the dealer states there is a problem with the rear sensor (another $160 to fix). The 99 Isuzu Rodeo only has 40,000 miles at this point and has two problems with the ABS system. The dealer did a VIN search and my car was not part of the recall.

I have a 99 Isuzu Rodeo with about 37,500 miles. About 2 weeks ago (early January 2003), I started up the Rodeo and heard a very loud sound coming from under the hood, which continued even when I turned off the ignition and removed the keys. The only way to stop the sound was to unplug the ABS fuse. When I took it to the dealership, they said the ABS control module had to be replaced (about a $500 repair.) from my internet research, this is a frequent problem with mid- to late-90S Rodeos.
