About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Recall 021-002 was done on the truck but the ABS light continued to illuminate (Isuzu Rodeo). While driving the fuel pump failed/sender assembly failed and caused the vehicle to shut off.
- Flemington, NJ, USA
Fuel sending unit reacts to chemical additives over times and fails. This causes gas guage to read imporperly or not at all. This also causes the check engine light to appear. New sending unit needed and removal of gas tank necesary to replace unit. Quoted at 500 dollars to replace the 36 dollar part.
- Newton, MA, USA
Fuel sending unit failed at 63000 miles. Same description as the many other complaints I.e. empty light starts blinking or stays on when tank is at least 3/4 full and needle will drop to empty after a few miles after fill up. Forced to either use trip odometer to tell when to refill or spend $500+ to repair sending unit and the fuel pump. Very poor that Isuzu won't address the problem. They need to take into consideration the many incidences that do not go reported to the NHTSA as well.
- Lexington, KY, USA
Fuel sending unit for 1999 Isuzu Rodeo. I do not know how much gas I have in my SUV. I am a real estate agent and I drive all the time. I need to have a reliable signal for the gas.
- Deltona, FL, USA
Bad sending unit on 1999 Isuzu Rodeo ls. Leaving me not knowing how much fuel I actually have and caused vehicle to die out while driving.
- Westchester, IL, USA
Fuel pump started making noise at 42000 miles Isuzu said this problem can not be corrected, and that most people complain about this noise.
- Leander, TX, USA
Engine --while driving (usually at speeds between 25 and 40 mph) and usually while turning the vehicle either right or left the engine will completly shut itself off. The warning lights kick on and the engine kicks off. On occasion, while parked or going into reverse the engine will do the exact same thing. I have noticed that while parked the RPM's seem to increase greatly before the vehicle shuts down. I have had the car repeatedly at the dealership however, they claim they can not fix the problem because they can't duplicate the problem while driving it. The problems seem to be random and do not always reoccur given the exact same conditions. It did happen yesterday and almost caused a major accident! an additional problem (not as severe) is that when at a stoplight the vehicle has a tendency to lunge forward a bit. (even though my foot is on the brake) it seems to me that both problems may be related (I.e. a fuel pump problem ?) however, I am currently driving a vehicle they claim they can't fix and I now consider extremely dangerous to drive. (to the point that it puts me in life threating situations if it dies while in another major intersection)
